At TNG Digital, part of TNG Digital Group, we build the tech behind TNG eWallet, one of Malaysia's most used apps for payments and everyday life.
Millions of people rely on us daily, not just to pay, but to manage money, access financial services, and get things done faster and simpler.
Behind it all is a team that likes to question how things are done, move quickly, and try new ideas. If you enjoy solving real problems and seeing your work used at scale, you will feel right at home here.
What You'll Do:
1) Release ownership and decision-making
- Collaborating with different technology and operations teams to ensure that release and deployment requirements are understood and met.
- Implement best practice for release management.
- Hold Go/No-Go decisions across all four platforms and record them to an auditable standard.
- Hold rollback authority — decide when to roll back, when to forward-fix, and defend the reasoning afterwards.
- Review release plans for completeness, configuration state, sequencing, and undeclared scope before the window opens.
- Push back on late-arriving scope, unreviewed changes, and requirements that arrive after QA sign-off.
- Adjudicate release plan change requests against release risk rather than delivery pressure.
- Escalate systemic risk to Engineering and Leadership with evidence behind it.
- Own and maintain the forward release calendar, including cross-platform sequencing and dependency management.
2) Analysis and reporting
- Produce release retrospectives on a two-weekly cycle covering all releases in the period.
- Distinguish one-off incidents from systemic patterns — the analysis is the deliverable, not the incident log.
- Categorise and trend recurring issue types: procedural, configuration, environment, plan gaps, defect leakage.
- Track rollbacks, hotfixes, App Store rejections, QA defect leakage, and release plan change requests.
- Trace post-release incidents back to their originating release.
- Build monthly release snapshot reports for leadership, publishable without editing.
- Query Jira and Confluence directly to assemble release data, and automate that reporting where possible.
- Drive corrective actions arising from retrospectives through to closure.
3) Release execution
- Run assigned releases end to end across platforms.
- Operate and oversee canary deployments, feature flags, and staged rollouts.
- Verify maker–checker completion on all privileged changes.
- Confirm rollback paths are tested and executable before every release.
- Coordinate directly with SRE, Engineering, and QA through the release window.
- Maintain and improve release runbooks, checklists, and tooling.
Role Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, or related field
- Professional cloud certification
- 4+ years in release management, deployment engineering, DevOps, SRE, or a closely related delivery function
- Experience in financial services, payments, or another regulated environment
- Experience with release governance in an audited environment
- Data and reporting capability — SQL, scripting, or dashboard building to automate release reporting
- Demonstrated willingness to hold a release decision under pressure — you have stopped a release, or refused a change, and can explain what happened next
- Sound judgment with incomplete evidence: able to distinguish a real risk signal from noise, and to articulate residual risk when choosing to proceed
- Analytical capability — able to look across multiple releases and identify what is recurring rather than reporting each incident in isolation
- Strong written communication; retrospectives and leadership reporting are core deliverables, not an afterthought
- Practical understanding of deployment mechanics: canary rollouts, feature flags, staged releases, rollback and forward-fix trade-offs
- Working proficiency with Jira and Confluence, including writing your own JQL
- Willingness and ability to work a shifted schedule including overnight release windows on a sustained basis
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
