Job Description

Shape the Future of Digital Banking in Malaysia

RHB Bank is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its Leadership Team.

As a key member of the senior leadership team, the CFO will play a critical role in shaping the Digital Bank's growth strategy, driving financial performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting sustainable profitability. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO will provide strategic financial leadership across the organisation, partnering closely with the Board, regulators, investors, and business leaders to build a scalable, digitally enabled financial institution.

This is a unique opportunity for a senior finance leader to influence the future of digital banking, lead transformation initiatives, optimize capital and financial performance, and contribute to the long-term success of one of Malaysia's emerging digital banking platforms

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Finance & Business Leadership

  • Develop and execute the Digital Bank's financial strategy in alignment with business objectives and long-term growth ambitions.
  • Partner closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to drive strategic decision-making, business performance, and value creation.
  • Lead enterprise-wide financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and performance management.
  • Provide commercial insights and financial analysis to support new business initiatives, product launches, partnerships, and growth opportunities.
  • Evaluate strategic investments, business cases, acquisitions, and partnership opportunities.

Financial Performance Management

  • Drive profitability, operational efficiency, and sustainable financial performance across the Digital Bank.
  • Establish and monitor key financial and business performance metrics.
  • Develop financial models, scenario analysis, and forecasting tools to support strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Identify risks and opportunities to improve financial outcomes and shareholder value.

Capital, Treasury & Funding Management

  • Lead capital planning, liquidity management, funding strategy, and balance sheet optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory capital, liquidity, and funding requirements.
  • Support fundraising activities, capital management initiatives, and strategic financing transactions.
  • Monitor and manage financial resources to support business growth while maintaining prudent risk management.

Financial Control, Governance & Reporting

  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting, management reporting, and regulatory submissions.
  • Oversee accounting, taxation, treasury operations, financial systems, and financial controls.
  • Maintain robust governance frameworks, policies, and internal controls to support regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and corporate governance expectations.

Risk Management & Regulatory Engagement

  • Partner closely with Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit functions to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks.
  • Monitor and manage risks relating to capital, liquidity, market conditions, and financial sustainability.
  • Maintain effective relationships with regulators, auditors, and other key external stakeholders.
  • Ensure the Digital Bank operates in accordance with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.

Stakeholder Management

  • Present financial performance, business insights, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to the Board and Board Committees.
  • Build strong relationships with regulators, investors, shareholders, banking partners, and external advisors.
  • Collaborate across business, technology, product, operations, and risk teams to deliver strategic objectives.

Transformation & Innovation

  • Lead finance transformation initiatives, including automation, digitization, data analytics, and process optimization.
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance operations and reporting capabilities.
  • Stay abreast of emerging industry trends, digital banking developments, financial technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance business performance through innovation and technology adoption.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing Finance function.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop leadership capability and succession pipelines within the Finance team.
  • Promote a strong risk, governance, and performance culture across the organization.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualifications such as CPA, CA, ACCA, CFA, or equivalent are highly preferred.
  • MBA or Master's Degree will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in Finance, Corporate Finance, Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Strategy, Investment Banking, Fintech, Technology, Telecommunications, E-Commerce, Payments, Financial Services, or related industries.
  • Proven experience as a CFO, Deputy CFO, Finance Director, VP Finance, Head of Finance, or equivalent senior finance leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success in driving business growth, profitability, financial transformation, and enterprise-wide financial performance.
  • Strong experience partnering with CEOs, Boards, investors, regulators, and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience within a Digital Bank, Fintech, Payments, Technology, Telecommunications, E-Commerce, Platform Business, or regulated industry environment is highly desirable.

Knowledge & Technical Expertise

  • Strong expertise in Strategic Finance, Corporate Finance, FP&A, Treasury, Capital Management, Financial Modelling, Budgeting, Forecasting, and Performance Management.
  • Deep understanding of financial reporting, governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate financial insights into strategic business decisions.
  • Knowledge of digital business models, digital payments, fintech ecosystems, technology-enabled financial services, and emerging financial technologies is advantageous.

  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive enterprise-wide outcomes.
  • Strong leadership presence with experience operating at Board and Executive Committee level.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
