Job Title: Project Engineer
Location: Kulim East Industrial Park, Padang Meha, Kulim Kedah.
Reports To: Project Manager / Company Owner
Contract Duration: Approximately 1 year (extendable based on project progress)
Our partner in glass manufacturing from China is expanding their presence in Kedah and seeking an experienced engineer (Civil and Structural Engineering background are very welcomed) to lead their project team.
I. Job Responsibilities
1. Construction Progress Supervision
Monitor the execution of the construction schedule to ensure the project progresses according to the planned timeline.
Identify potential risks of delay and actively promote solutions.
Submit regular progress reports to the company headquarters in both Chinese and English.
2. Quality and Safety Management
Supervise construction quality based on design drawings and Malaysian construction standards.
Inspect materials, construction workmanship, and hidden works acceptance.
Check the implementation of safety regulations to eliminate potential hazards, ensuring compliance with local OSHA or JKKP requirements.
3. Coordination and Communication
Serve as the company's on-site representative to coordinate among design institutes, construction contractors, suppliers, and local government authorities.
Resolve technical disputes and on-site issues.
4. Project Changes and Cost Control
Review change requests proposed by the contractor, evaluate their rationality, and report to the company for approval.
Monitor work volume certifications to prevent budget overruns.
5. Others
Manage relevant documentation.
Assist in early-stage administrative coordination work as needed.
II. Job Requirements
1. Educational Background
Degree or above in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related fields.
2. Work Experience
Over 5 years of experience in on-site supervision or project management.
Experience in industrial plants or large-scale infrastructure projects is preferred.
Familiar with Malaysian building regulations (e.g., CIDB standards), construction procedures, and acceptance specifications.
3. Professional Skills
Proficient in reading construction drawings using AutoCAD or similar tools.
Strong judgment and ability to independently handle on-site problems.
Able to work under pressure.
CIDB certification, Registered Inspector/Engineer qualification (e.g., Jurutera Profesional, Ir.) or equivalent is an advantage.
4. Language and Cultural Skills
Proficient in both Chinese and English (written and spoken).
Capable of handling technical documentation and cross-cultural communication effectively.
5. Other Requirements
Adaptable to on-site working environments and willing to be stationed full-time on site.
Must hold a valid driver's license.
