Job Purpose
To serve as the primary administrator of all notifications under the Malaysian Bar's Mandatory Professional Indemnity Scheme, ensuring efficient claims portfolio management while balancing the interests of insurers, the Malaysian Bar, and its members. This position requires comprehensive knowledge of Professional Indemnity Policy provisions, legal frameworks, and law firm operational practices, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with program stakeholders to optimize operational efficiency and cost management. The role demands strict adherence to confidentiality protocols in all aspects of claims administration.
Job Description, Key Tasks and Measurements
Claims Management
- Manage all aspects of the assigned files and portfolio from the point of notification until conclusion, including having courteous and difficult discussions with stakeholders, and insureds
- Efficient and prompt management of notifications, including attending to all queries in a polite and timely manner, ensuring guidance is sought where necessary, in accordance with LC's processes and guidelines
- Assess policy coverage and analyse all relevant information including panel lawyer opinions, documents and cause papers, specifically when preparing recommendations and reports
- Using the dedicated claims portal and electronic filing to upload, update and maintain accurate and detailed records of all notification/claim activities especially Reserves, Payments, Base Excess collection, legal opinions, correspondence, reports and documents etc in accordance with our process. Only when necessary and with our consent are hard copies to be maintained
- Identify any unusual claims, spikes in certain types of claims, new scams and fraudulent schemes trends to assist with risk management
- Prepare reports/updates on claims status and financials
Stakeholder Management
- Liaise with the stakeholders of MyBar PI Scheme, i.e. Malaysian Bar, members of the Bar, insured firms with notifications, insurers, panel lawyers and appointed brokers
- Provide clear and concise communication on the claims process, status updates, strategies and resolutions
- Address and resolve any concerns or disputes raised by stakeholders with regard to notifications in a professional manner
Qualification and Experience
- Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), 2012
- A-Levels (Arts), Cambridge International, 2015
- Bachelor of Laws, University of London (External), 2018
- Certificate in Legal Practice (CLP) 2021
- Professional Diploma in Arbitration (PDIA), 2024
- Good communication skills. Possess proper computer skills and knowledge of relevant software.
- Understand legal principles and its applications.
- Able to seek advice from seniors on critical decisions or incidents; including all work issues that may cause problems.
- Although appropriate training will be given, staff are expected to be self-motivated, take initiative, and proactively seek solutions.
