Job Description

The Opportunity

Guidewire's Cloud Engineering Team, part of Guidewire Global Support (GGS), provides 24/7 support for customers using Guidewire's software on the Guidewire Cloud Platform. The team focuses on automating processes to enhance system efficiency and reliability.

You play a key role in operating Guidewire's cloud platform for InsuranceSuite and InsuranceNow products, developing tools to optimize system availability and performance for multi-tenant SaaS environments.

What You Get To Do

  • Operate as a start-up within a highly influential InsurTech company
  • Participate in periodic infrastructure maintenance, deployment, upgrade, and migration activities to ensure high availability and compliance.
  • Identify and automate infrastructure maintenance activities, maintaining and improving automation infrastructure to drive efficiency and reliability.
  • Monitor alerts from infrastructure and application observability systems, responding swiftly to issues that could cause service disruption, and leverage learnings to develop proactive measures.
  • Provide infrastructure and operational support for Guidewire's flagship, highly integrated Java-based InsuranceSuite and InsuranceNow SaaS applications.
  • Participate in 24/7 emergency response rotations to ensure service availability
  • Develop and deploy tooling to support 24x7x365 service operations of critical worldwide systems.
  • Create system documentation and training materials to empower and educate our own and other Cloud Engineering teams.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field with 4+ years of experience
  • Cloud computing experience - AWS preferred.
  • Experience in building, deploying, and managing scalable infrastructure on Kubernetes and AWS using Terraform and cloud-native tools.
  • Background with Linux systems administration and strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, Go, etc.
  • Familiarity with the Agile software development lifecycle
  • Experience supporting web applications running on Java / Apache / Tomcat in a live production environment
  • Experience working with observability tools such as DataDog (Logging and APM).
  • Good understanding of DevOps tools, CI/CD, and hands-on experience with git, Bitbucket and TeamCity
  • Solid understanding of concepts surrounding containerized networking and all things IP
  • Experience working with Relational Databases such as Aurora Postgres and/or Oracle RDS
  • Advanced exposure to broad technical skills such as application development, web UI (design and development), JSON, and application architecture.
  • Ability to read and interpret application server thread dumps, Catalina outputs, CloudTrail, and other critical logging outputs.
  • Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your role as well as use data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.
