Cloud FinOps Engineer

Role Description This is an on-site contract role for a Cloud FinOps Engineer based in Kuala Lumpur. The Cloud FinOps Engineer will manage and optimize cloud costs across multiple platforms, including monitoring usage, analyzing spending patterns, and recommending cost-saving measures. The role involves collaborating with engineering, finance, and operations teams to establish governance, budgeting, and chargeback/showback models. The engineer will develop dashboards and reports, support cloud provisioning and tagging strategies, and ensure alignment with security, compliance, and performance requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities also include automating cost management workflows, contributing to cloud architecture discussions, and providing guidance on best practices for cloud efficiency and scalability.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Cloud Computing and Infrastructure, with hands-on experience managing cloud environments and related services.
• Candidates should possess solid Linux skills for administering and troubleshooting systems that underpin cloud workloads.
• Candidates should possess practical experience with Databases, including performance optimization and cost-efficient utilization in cloud platforms.
• Candidates should possess Software Development skills, such as scripting or programming, to automate cloud cost management and operational tasks.
• Experience with FinOps principles, cloud cost analysis tools, and budgeting/forecasting in cloud environments is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with major cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their billing, tagging, and optimization features is preferred.
• Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
