About the Role

Xionex is seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure & Operations Lead to take ownership of our cloud infrastructure, deployment architecture, and operational capabilities as we scale our business.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the infrastructure that supports our platform across three deployment models: multi-tenant SaaS, customer-managed on-premises installations, and dedicated hosted environments.

You will establish infrastructure, DevOps, security, and operational processes from the ground up, ensuring our systems are secure, reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient. You will also lead SOC 2 readiness and ongoing compliance activities, working closely with the founders and engineering team to build a robust operational foundation for enterprise customers.

This role is ideal for someone who combines strong cloud engineering expertise with operational ownership and enjoys building solutions in a growing technology company.

Key ResponsibilitiesCloud Infrastructure & Architecture

Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and reliable cloud infrastructure for Xionex's platform.
Develop and manage infrastructure architectures using AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Establish and support deployment models for multi-tenant SaaS, customer-managed on-premises installations, and dedicated hosted environments.
Implement infrastructure as code, containerisation, and automated provisioning to ensure consistent deployments across environments.
Optimise infrastructure performance, availability, scalability, and cloud expenditure.
Define infrastructure standards and architecture principles to support future business growth.

Infrastructure Operations & Reliability

Own day-to-day infrastructure and platform operations, including monitoring, alerting, incident response, on-call support, backups, and disaster recovery.
Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines, observability, configuration management, and automated deployment processes.
Develop operational procedures, technical documentation, and runbooks to support consistent service delivery.
Identify and resolve infrastructure issues, improve system resilience, and minimise service disruptions.
Manage infrastructure capacity, system performance, and operational risks across production environments.
Support software packaging, installation, upgrades, and troubleshooting for customer-managed deployments.

Security, Risk & Compliance

Lead SOC 2 readiness, implementation, and audit activities, including control implementation, evidence collection, policy development, and auditor coordination.
Establish and maintain security baselines across cloud, hosted, and on-premises environments.
Implement and maintain access management, secrets management, vulnerability management, and security patching practices.
Integrate security and compliance requirements into infrastructure provisioning, deployment, and operational workflows.
Work with engineering and other stakeholders to strengthen security controls and support enterprise customer requirements.

DevOps & Engineering Collaboration

Collaborate with software engineering teams on infrastructure architecture, deployment strategies, and production readiness.
Improve engineering efficiency through automation, standardised tooling, and streamlined deployment workflows.
Evaluate and introduce tools and technologies that improve infrastructure management, reliability, and security.
Establish scalable operational processes that balance delivery speed, system stability, security, and cost.
Take ownership of infrastructure and operational improvements, from initial design through implementation and ongoing maintenance.

Technical Leadership

Establish the infrastructure and operations function, including standards, processes, and technical priorities.
Provide technical guidance on cloud architecture, deployment models, reliability, and infrastructure security.
Work directly with the founders and engineering team to align infrastructure decisions with business and product objectives.
Identify opportunities to scale operational capabilities and develop the team as the business grows.

Requirements

At least 7 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or platform engineering, including architecture-level responsibility.
Strong hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Solid experience with Kubernetes, containers, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
Demonstrated experience deploying and supporting software in customer-managed environments, including on-premises or private cloud installations.
Proven experience operating production systems, including monitoring, incident management, backups, and disaster recovery.
Practical experience implementing and maintaining SOC 2 or ISO 27001 controls, including audit preparation and evidence management.
Experience building infrastructure, automation, and operational processes from the ground up, preferably in a startup or scale-up environment.
Strong understanding of cloud security, identity and access management, vulnerability management, and secure deployment practices.
Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and make sound architectural decisions.
Strong ownership mindset, with the ability to work independently and manage a broad technical scope.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.

Nice to Have

Experience with compliance automation platforms such as Vanta, Drata, or Secureframe.
Experience with multi-cloud architectures or air-gapped deployments.
Background in cloud security or security engineering.
Experience hiring, mentoring, or leading a small infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE team.
Experience supporting enterprise software in regulated industries, particularly banking, financial services, or insurance.
Familiarity with the security, operational resilience, and deployment requirements of enterprise customers.
