1. Your Mission
As a Cloud Operations Engineer, your mission is to ensure cloud environments are secure, cost-efficient, and operationally accurate. You will work closely with platform and project teams to manage access, monitor cloud spend, and ensure workloads are provisioned correctly, while continuously identifying opportunities to optimize cost and operations through FinOps practices and automation.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. FinOps & Cost Management
- Monitor cloud costs, budgets, and usage across project and platform accounts.
- Analyze cloud cost and performance data to identify optimization opportunities and reduce waste.
- Investigate cost anomalies, identify root causes, and coordinate corrective actions with stakeholders.
- Participate in architectural discussions to support cost-efficient cloud design decisions.
- Prepare cloud spend forecasts and review monthly spending against annual budgets.
- Provide regular cost and usage reports and promote cost accountability across teams.
- Support the deployment and usage of FinOps tools and stay current with cloud pricing models and best practices.
B. Cloud Operations & Governance
- Manage IAM users, roles, and permissions for relevant project accounts following least-privilege principles.
- Perform continuous follow-up with Platform & Project PICs to ensure workloads are provisioned accurately.
- Support day-to-day cloud operations, including access requests and resource validation.
- Ensure cloud environments comply with operational standards and governance policies.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational efficiency through automation.
3. Requirements
Technical Expertise & Experience
- Basic to intermediate hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, CloudWatch, VPC, IAM, and billing.
- Understanding of cloud cost optimization concepts; prior exposure to FinOps principles is an advantage.
- Experience with scripting or automation (e.g. Python, Bash, or cloud-native automation) is a plus.
- Familiarity with multi-account cloud environments and basic cloud architecture concepts.
Certifications & Education
- AWS Certification (e.g. AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect Associate, or equivalent) is preferred.
- Candidates currently pursuing AWS certifications are encouraged to apply.
- Fresh graduates with strong interest in cloud operations and FinOps are welcome.
