CNC Machinist / Setter (Turning)

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD/CAM files, and technical specifications.
  • Set up CNC turning machines with the appropriate tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices.
  • Load, edit, and verify CNC programs (G-code and M-code).
  • Adjust machining parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate, spindle speed, and tool offsets to achieve optimum machining performance.
  • Operate CNC turning machines to manufacture precision components that meet quality requirements.
  • Perform first-piece inspection and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments.
  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot basic machining issues to minimize downtime.
  • Replace worn tooling and carry out routine machine maintenance as required.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment using 5S practices.

Requirements

Education

  • Technical Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in CNC Machining, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating and setting up CNC Turning machines in a manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills

  • Good knowledge of CNC Turning machine setup and operation.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Familiar with CNC programming using G-code and M-code.
  • Knowledge of machine parameter adjustments, including tool offsets, cutting speed, and feed rate.
  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and precision tolerances.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and height gauges.
