CNC Machinist / Setter (Turning)
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, CAD/CAM files, and technical specifications.
- Set up CNC turning machines with the appropriate tooling, fixtures, and workholding devices.
- Load, edit, and verify CNC programs (G-code and M-code).
- Adjust machining parameters such as cutting speed, feed rate, spindle speed, and tool offsets to achieve optimum machining performance.
- Operate CNC turning machines to manufacture precision components that meet quality requirements.
- Perform first-piece inspection and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments.
- Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot basic machining issues to minimize downtime.
- Replace worn tooling and carry out routine machine maintenance as required.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards, safety regulations, and company procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment using 5S practices.
Requirements
Education
- Technical Certificate, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in CNC Machining, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating and setting up CNC Turning machines in a manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills
- Good knowledge of CNC Turning machine setup and operation.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Familiar with CNC programming using G-code and M-code.
- Knowledge of machine parameter adjustments, including tool offsets, cutting speed, and feed rate.
- Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and precision tolerances.
- Experience using precision measuring equipment such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and height gauges.
