Job Description

Job Title: Policy 400 (P400) Developer

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Policy 400 (P400) Developer to design, develop, and maintain insurance policy administration system applications. The candidate will work closely with business analysts, project managers, and IT teams to enhance policy lifecycle management including policy issuance, underwriting, billing, endorsements, and claims integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain applications within the Policy 400 (P400) insurance system.
  • Customize and enhance policy administration modules such as policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, billing, and underwriting.
  • Collaborate with business analysts to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Develop and maintain programs, scripts, and interfaces for system integration with other insurance platforms.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and provide production support for Policy 400 applications.
  • Perform system testing, debugging, and performance tuning to ensure efficient system functionality.
  • Maintain proper technical documentation and coding standards.
  • Participate in system upgrades, data migration, and implementation projects.
  • Support integration with external systems such as claims systems, accounting systems, and reporting tools.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 38 years of experience in insurance policy administration systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Policy 400 (P400) development and configuration.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance policy lifecycle and underwriting processes.
  • Experience with AS/400, RPG, COBOL, SQL, or similar technologies used in legacy insurance systems.
  • Familiarity with system integration, APIs, and data interfaces.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in Life or General Insurance systems.
  • Knowledge of Agile / Scrum development methodology.
  • Experience with data migration, system modernization, or digital insurance platforms.
