Job Description
Responsibilities: -
- Provide strategic leadership for the entire commercial function, overseeing contracts, cost management, procurement, and commercial governance.
- Lead commercial planning and tender strategies for major new projects, including pricing strategies, risk identification, contract negotiations, and bid approvals.
- Oversee and approve project budgets, cash flows, procurement plans, and contract strategies to ensure alignment with financial targets and business objectives.
- Monitor commercial performance across multiple high-value projects, ensuring strong cost control, accurate forecasting, and timely reporting to top management.
- Lead negotiations for major contracts, claims, variations, and commercial settlements, protecting the company's interest and optimizing contractual outcomes.
- Establish and enforce commercial governance frameworks, standard operating procedures, contractual templates, and procurement policies across the group.
- Drive procurement strategy and supplier development, including international sourcing, long-term vendor agreements, and strategic supply-chain partnerships.
- Oversee contract compliance, legal risk, insurance requirements, regulatory standards, and corporate governance for local and overseas projects.
- Build and develop a high-capability Commercial Division, including QS teams, procurement teams, and contract administrators.
- Collaborate closely with Executive Management, Project Directors, Finance, and Operations to ensure commercial alignment, financial health, and overall business success.
- Identify and manage major commercial risks, including cost escalations, supply chain disruptions, contractual exposures, and project profitability challenges.
- Represent the company in high-level discussions with clients, partners, joint venture entities, and government or regulatory bodies.
Requirements: -
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering, Business, Law, or related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years of commercial/ QS experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles such as Commercial Manager or Head of Commercial.
- Proven track record managing commercial and procurement functions for large-scale construction or hi-tech facility projects (cleanroom, semiconductor, data center, pharma, industrial).
- Strong understanding of international contract forms and overseas project commercial requirements.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to manage large teams and multiple project portfolios.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, financial, and strategic decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills at executive and client level.
