We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Commercial Director to lead and drive the commercial strategy and execution across Malaysia. This leadership role will be responsible for the overall performance of sales, marketing, trade marketing, and customer management activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in the FMCG or household products sector with a deep understanding of the modern trade landscape in Malaysia.
Key Responsibilities:
Commercial Strategy & Business Leadership
- Develop and execute the commercial strategy for the Malaysian market, ensuring alignment with regional goals and global brand direction.
- Lead the annual business planning process including sales forecasts, trade investment, pricing strategy, and promotional planning.
- Drive sustainable and profitable growth across all channels including Modern Trade, General Trade, E-commerce, and Key Accounts.
Sales & Channel Management
- Oversee sales operations and ensure delivery of volume, value, and market share targets.
- Lead relationships with key modern trade retailers, distributors, and e-commerce platforms.
- Develop channel-specific strategies to maximize customer engagement and shelf performance.
- Manage trade terms and ensure efficient allocation of trade spend with strong ROI.
Marketing & Trade Marketing
- Collaborate with regional marketing teams to localize brand strategies and campaigns.
- Oversee execution of in-store visibility, activation, and category management initiatives.
- Drive consumer insight-based decision-making to influence marketing and innovation pipeline.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing commercial team across sales and marketing functions.
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Set clear KPIs and performance management processes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor&aposs degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field; MBA is a plus.
- Minimum 10 - 15 years of commercial experience in the FMCG or household products industry.
- P&L management experience.
- Proven track record in managing modern trade and key accounts in Malaysia.
- Strong understanding of the local retail landscape, market dynamics, and consumer behavior.
- Experience managing multifunctional teams and influencing at senior levels.
- Analytical, strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
