Job Summary

More about the role

Defines the end‑to‑end performance, strategic direction, and execution of the Professional Trade Lighting business across Southeast Asia and the Far East, a highly fragmented, distributor‑led, and price‑sensitive region. Accountable for driving profitable growth, improving market share, and strengthening customer relevance across diverse trade markets, while simplifying and rationalising the go‑to‑market model. The role ensures strong execution discipline and alignment across Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Systems & Services in a multi‑country, high‑complexity environment.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Owns and drives the regional Trade GTM strategy for Southeast Asia and the Far East, addressing high market fragmentation, varied maturity levels, and different route‑to‑market models. Defines clear channel roles, distributor models, installer engagement approaches, and country‑level execution frameworks aligned with Signify's global direction.
  • Leads GTM rationalization and simplification, reducing portfolio, pricing, and program complexity across countries to improve speed, focus, and execution effectiveness in the trade channel.
  • Accountable for sales growth, gross margin, and profitability of the Trade business across the region. Drives disciplined commercial management in highly competitive markets impacted by local competition, China‑origin imports, and FX volatility.
  • Defines and governs regional pricing architecture, discount structures, rebate programs, and trade investments, balancing competitiveness with margin protection. Ensures strict governance of trade spend, compliance with commercial policies, and ethical standards across all countries.
  • Partners closely with country commercial leaders to translate regional strategy into country‑specific execution plans, ensuring accountability for targets, pricing discipline, and overall channel performance.
  • Works cross‑functionally with Marketing, Supply Chain, and Finance to ensure fit‑for‑market portfolios, reliable product availability, realistic demand forecasting, and effective inventory management in markets with long supply chains and variable demand patterns.
  • Builds and strengthens strategic distributor and key trade customer partnerships across the region. Drives clear value propositions for distributors, retailers small/medium installers/contractors, including service levels, training, digital tools, and differentiated offerings beyond price.
  • Identifies and accelerates growth opportunities in core trade categories, while selectively expanding adoption of connected, energy‑efficient solutions.
  • Leads regional initiatives to improve sales productivity, including, forecast accuracy, and performance reviews across countries with varying commercial maturity.
  • Closely monitors market dynamics, competitive behavior, regulatory developments, and cost/FX impacts across Southeast Asia and Far East, translating insights into timely commercial actions and corrective measures.
  • Develops strong regional and country‑level talent in Trade. Builds commercial capability in distributor management, pricing, negotiation, portfolio selling, and execution excellence, creating a high‑performance and accountable trade organization.

Critical Experiences

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field, with a solid foundation in commercial leadership and channel management.
  • Experience: Over 10 years of proven commercial or sales leadership experience, preferably within professional lighting, electrical, building materials, or similar B2B industries, with direct involvement in distributor-led trade models.
  • Regional Expertise: Extensive experience navigating multi-country markets in Southeast Asia, Far East, or comparable regions, showcasing the ability to manage complexity, cultural diversity, and varying levels of market maturity.
  • Strategic Acumen: Demonstrated success in pricing management, margin optimization, and trade spend governance within highly competitive and cost-sensitive environments.
  • Transformation Leadership: Proven ability to lead go-to-market (GTM) transformation or simplification initiatives, driving enhanced focus, execution, and profitability across fragmented markets.
  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional people leadership capabilities within matrix organizations, with a strong track record of developing regional teams and effectively influencing country leaders without direct reporting lines.
