My client is a leading general insurer in Malaysia with a strong nationwide presence, offering a comprehensive range of personal and commercial insurance solutions. They are currently seeking Senior Commercial Lines Underwriters to join their teams in the Southern and Northern regions of Malaysia
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and accept risks in line with established underwriting guidelines.
- Negotiate and finalise the most favourable policy terms with business units and intermediaries.
- Contribute to the development of underwriting policies for Commercial Lines Liability products in the assigned region to drive sustainable growth and profitability.
- Assess complex Commercial Lines submissions that fall outside branch authority and offer expert technical advice to regional teams.
- Oversee day-to-day insurance operations related to all Commercial Lines classes within the region.
- Support the Head of Commercial Lines in tracking Distribution channel performance, analyse results, and prepare regular underwriting reports for senior management.
- Deliver ongoing technical support to Distribution teams across the region.
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years relevant experience in General Insurance, with strong exposure to insurance operations, BNM and PIAM regulations, and market intelligence
- Hands-on underwriting experience, preferably in Property and Engineering (experience in other Commercial Lines is a plus)
- Proven market-facing presence and established network in the local insurance industry, particularly in the assigned region
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to build strong relationships with intermediaries
