Job Summary

We are seeking a Commissioning Engineer with expertise in data center construction to oversee and execute the commissioning process of critical infrastructure systems. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems function according to design specifications and meet the performance standards required for hyperscale or enterprise-level data centers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commissioning Execution:
    • Plan, coordinate, and execute the commissioning of electrical, mechanical, BMS, and other critical systems.
    • Review design documents, submittals, and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
    • Lead and document functional performance tests, integrated systems testing, and acceptance criteria.
  • Project Coordination:
    • Collaborate with construction teams, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure systems are installed and commissioned on schedule.
    • Attend project meetings and interface with stakeholders including design engineers, construction managers, and client representatives.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Prepare commissioning plans, scripts, and test procedures in accordance with industry standards (ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, etc.).
    • Generate detailed commissioning reports, punch lists, and close-out documents.
    • Maintain accurate logs of all commissioning activities and issues for resolution.
  • Quality & Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with local codes, safety standards, and company policies.
    • Identify and mitigate risks during the commissioning process.
  • Systems Expertise (Examples):
    • Electrical: UPS, switchgear, transformers, generators, PDUs.
    • Mechanical: CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, HVAC controls.
    • Controls: BMS, EPMS, SCADA systems.
Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or relevant Engineering discipline. (Relevant certifications or trade qualifications considered for candidates with significant experience.)
  • Experience:
    • 37 years of commissioning experience in data center or mission-critical environments.
    • Familiarity with commissioning standards and best practices (ASHRAE, Uptime Institute Tier Guidelines, LEED, etc.)
  • Certifications (preferred):
    • Commissioning Process Management Professional (CPMP)
    • Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP)
    • PMP or other project management certifications
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in reading technical drawings, specifications, and control schematics.
    • Experience using commissioning tools and software (CxAlloy, Bluebeam, etc.)
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and within a cross-functional team environment.
