The Opportunity

- Acts as the key local representative, shaping market strategy and building partnerships across Malaysian media, entertainment, telecom, advertising, and digital sectors.

- Collaborates closely with regional and China HQ stakeholders across content, partnerships, marketing, operations, product, and strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Market Growth & Commercial Strategy:
- Lead and execute Malaysia market growth strategy.
- Identify new revenue and user growth opportunities across subscriptions, partnerships, distribution (AVOD, SVOD, PVOD), and ecosystem collaborations.
- Drive market expansion initiatives and establish long-term positioning within Malaysia's OTT and digital entertainment ecosystem.
- Act as the primary commercial owner for the Malaysia market.
Partnerships & Business Development
- Build and manage strategic partnerships with:
- Telecom operators
- Broadcasters and TV networks
- OTT and digital media platforms
- Content studios and production houses
- Advertising and media agency ecosystems
- Device, distribution, and ecosystem partners
- Lead negotiations for:
- Content licensing and distribution partnerships
- Co-production and local content initiatives
- Marketing and go-to-market collaborations
- Telco bundling and subscriber acquisition partnerships
- IP commercialization opportunities
Content & Localization
- Support local content strategy and localization initiatives for Malaysia.
- Provide market insights on consumer behavior, audience trends, and content preferences across Malay, Chinese, and English-speaking demographics.
- Work with regional content teams to improve local market relevance and audience engagement.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Management
- Serve as the key bridge between Malaysia operations and regional/HQ teams.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders across product, marketing, operations, legal, content, and strategy to ensure smooth execution of local initiatives.
- Represent the company externally with key partners, industry stakeholders, and ecosystem players.
Requirements
- Approximately 5–15 years of experience in:
- OTT/streaming platforms
- Digital media
- Entertainment/broadcasting
- Telecom/digital ecosystem businesses
- Content partnerships or distribution
- Strong understanding of the Malaysia media, OTT, and digital entertainment landscape.
- Existing network across telecom operators, broadcasters, advertisers, agencies, OTT platforms, or content partners highly preferred.
- Proven experience in business development, strategic partnerships, commercial leadership, or market expansion.
- Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders in a regional or international environment.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Experience working with China-based or regional stakeholders is advantageous.
- Fluency in English required; Mandarin/Chinese language capability highly preferred due to frequent interaction with HQ and regional stakeholders.
