Commodity Trading Representative - Malaysia

Ember Grey is working with an international commodity trading group looking to hire a Representative in Malaysia.

The search is focused on candidates coming from either (physical) rubber trading or Agri Trading. The team would be particularly interested in speaking with people who have strong knowledge of the Malaysian market, including local ports, logistics networks, suppliers, customers and relevant industry contacts.

The role will have a broad commercial remit, with responsibility for developing the business locally, identifying new opportunities and building relationships across the Malaysian commodity market.

They are looking for someone with:

• At least five years of experience within commodity trading, logistics or a related commercial role

• Experience within rubber trading, or alternatively strong commodity logistics exposure

• Good knowledge of Malaysian ports and local trade flows

• An established network across the Malaysian commodity market

• Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills

• The ability to identify and develop new business opportunities

• Fluency in English

• Fluency in Mandarin Chinese is essential

• Malay language skills would be advantageous

The role would suit someone commercially minded who understands how commodity trading businesses operate and is comfortable working independently in the local market.
