Data Center Lead (Nusajaya, Johor, Malaysia)

Location: Nusajaya, Johor

Work Arrangement: On-site, 24/7 shift operations

Job Summary

We are looking for a Data Center Lead to support our data center operations in Nusajaya, Johor.

This is a hands-on role where you will lead a team of Data Center Technicians (DCTs) on shift, coordinate daily activities and act as the first point of escalation for technical and operational issues.

You will also be involved in day-to-day data center activities such as server hardware support, rack and stack, cabling, break/fix, troubleshooting and incident handling.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate Data Center Technicians during the assigned shift.
• Assign daily tasks and ensure work is completed within the required SLA.
• Conduct shift handovers and follow up on outstanding incidents and activities.
• Act as the first escalation point for technical issues and provide hands-on support when required.
• Support server and network hardware installation, troubleshooting and break/fix activities.
• Perform and oversee rack and stack, equipment deployment, replacement and decommissioning.
• Support copper and fiber patching, cable tracing, labeling and cable management.
• Troubleshoot hardware and physical connectivity issues.
• Coordinate with remote technical teams, customers and vendors for incident resolution.
• Ensure tickets are properly updated and followed through to closure.
• Support planned maintenance, equipment installation and other data center activities.
• Ensure the team follows approved SOPs, MOPs and EOPs.
• Maintain accurate operational records, checklists and asset information.
• Coach and guide junior technicians and new team members.
• Ensure all work is carried out according to site safety, security and customer requirements.
• Escalate critical incidents and operational risks to the relevant management team.
  
  

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in IT, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or a related field.
• At least 4–6 years of relevant data center or IT infrastructure experience.
• Previous experience as a Senior Data Center Technician, Team Lead, Shift Lead or similar role is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with server hardware, rack and stack, break/fix and component replacement.
• Good understanding of copper and fiber cabling, patching and cable management.
• Experience working in an SLA-driven environment and using ticketing systems.
• Able to troubleshoot technical issues independently and guide other technicians.
• Familiar with SOPs, MOPs and EOPs used in data center operations.
• Good communication and team coordination skills.
• Able to communicate in English.
• Must be comfortable working in a data center environment and performing hands-on technical work.
• Must be willing to work on-site in Nusajaya, Johor.
• Must be able to work 24/7 rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and public holidays.

• Hyperscale or colocation data center experience.
• Remote hands / smart hands support.
• Server and network hardware break/fix.
• Hardware deployment and decommissioning.
• Structured copper and fiber cabling.

This role is suitable for an experienced Data Center Technician who has strong hands-on technical skills and is ready to take on a lead role managing the day-to-day activities of a DCT team.
