Role Description This Data Engineer role is a contract, on-site position based in Kuala Lumpur. The Data Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support analytics, reporting, and application integration. Daily responsibilities include modeling and optimizing databases, integrating data from multiple sources, and ensuring data quality, reliability, and security across environments. The role involves collaborating with software developers, cloud engineers, and business stakeholders to understand data needs, refine requirements, and deliver performant solutions. The Data Engineer will also monitor data workflows, troubleshoot issues, implement improvements, and contribute to documentation and best practices for data architecture within client projects.
Qualifications

• Strong skills in data engineering fundamentals, including data modeling, ETL/ELT design, and building scalable data pipelines.
• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases and experience optimizing queries and data storage for performance and reliability.
• Hands-on experience with programming or scripting languages commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python, SQL, or similar).
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and related data services (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) for data warehousing, storage, and integration.
• Understanding of data quality practices, data governance, and security standards in production environments.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, translate business requirements into technical solutions, and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant experience as a Data Engineer, Data Warehouse Engineer, or similar role; experience in consulting or team augmentation environments is an advantage.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Willingness to work on-site in Kuala Lumpur on a contract basis and adapt to dynamic project requirements and timelines.
