Data Governance Lead
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced professional to join our organisation as a Data Governance Lead, responsible for driving the implementation and optimisation of data governance frameworks across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
This role plays a key part in strengthening the Bank's data management capabilities by embedding robust governance practices, enhancing data quality, and ensuring effective use of data governance tools and platforms. The incumbent will work closely with business, data, and technology teams to promote data as a strategic asset while ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
Data Governance Implementation & Optimisation
- Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of data governance frameworks, policies, and standards
- Support governance operations across hybrid environments (on-premise and cloud platforms)
- Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
Governance Tools & Solutions
- Implement and manage data governance tools such as data catalogues, data quality monitoring, and data lineage solutions
- Provide recommendations on tools and techniques to enhance governance processes
- Support ongoing optimisation and effective utilisation of governance platforms
Project Delivery & Execution
- Manage data governance initiatives from concept through to implementation
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and deliverables
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration
- Collaborate with business units, data stewards, and technology teams to gather requirements and drive adoption
- Facilitate stakeholder discussions and build alignment across functions
- Act as a subject matter expert to provide advisory on governance best practices
Data Management & Operational Support
- Work closely with data management and architecture teams to support data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and reference data practices
- Ensure effective execution of data governance processes and controls
Training & Change Management
- Provide guidance, training, and awareness programmes to promote data governance practices
- Act as a change agent to drive cultural adoption and accountability in data management
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in data governance or data management roles
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks, policies, and data management principles
- Experience working in hybrid and multi-cloud environments
- Proficiency in data governance tools such as Informatica, Collibra, Alation, Microsoft Purview, or similar
- Good understanding of data lifecycle, data architecture, and data integration concepts
- Familiarity with data protection, privacy, and compliance standards
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CIMP, CDMP) are an added advantage
