Job Description
Position: Data Scientist, Cards & Payments Analytics
Location: Kuala Lumpur
Industry: Financial Services
Employment Type: 12 months contract with PERSOL
Salary: RM15,000 – RM19,000 (based on qualifications & experience)
What You'll Be Doing
Advanced Analytics & Data Science
✅ Lead analytics workstreams across the credit card lifecycle, including:
- Customer Acquisition
- Card Activation
- Usage & Spend Optimization
- Customer Retention
- Payment Success
- Fraud Prevention
- Credit Risk Analytics
✅ Develop and deploy advanced statistical models and machine learning solutions to identify growth, efficiency, and risk optimization opportunities.
✅ Design and execute:
- Customer Segmentation
- Propensity Modelling
- Customer Lifecycle Modelling
- Uplift Modelling
- Predictive Analytics
- Portfolio Optimization Strategies
Experimentation & Performance Measurement
✅ Design and evaluate test-and-learn frameworks using:
- A/B Testing
- Control Groups
- Experimental Design
- Causal Inference Techniques
✅ Measure campaign effectiveness and translate insights into business recommendations.
✅ Drive continuous improvement through data-driven experimentation.
Big Data & Analytics Engineering
✅ Analyze large-scale transaction, behavioural, and customer datasets.
✅ Build predictive modelling datasets using structured and unstructured data sources.
✅ Work with modern analytics technologies including:
- SQL
- Python
- Spark
- Hadoop
- Hive
- Cloud Analytics Platforms
✅ Enhance and optimize analytical code supporting critical business processes.
Data Visualization & Business Storytelling
✅ Design and develop dashboards using:
- Power BI
- Tableau
✅ Translate complex analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for business stakeholders.
✅ Support executive decision-making through insightful reporting, presentations, and performance tracking.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
✅ Partner closely with:
- Product Teams
- Marketing Teams
- Risk & Fraud Teams
- Technology Teams
- Business Stakeholders
✅ Support the implementation and operationalization of analytics-driven strategies.
✅ Contribute to capability building by documenting methodologies, best practices, and reusable analytical assets.
What We're Looking For
✔ Master's Degree or above in:
- Data Science
- Statistics
- Mathematics
- Computer Science
- Engineering
- Other Quantitative Disciplines
✔ 5-8+ years of experience in:
- Data Science
- Advanced Analytics
- Machine Learning
- Predictive Modelling
✔ Experience within:
- Financial Services
- Retail Banking
- Credit Cards
- Payments
- Fintech
✔ Strong knowledge of:
- Statistical Modelling
- Regression Analysis
- Classification Techniques
- Clustering Methods
- Predictive Analytics
✔ Hands-on experience with:
- Machine Learning Algorithms
- Time Series Analysis
- Experimental Design
- Causal Inference
✔ Advanced proficiency in:
- Python
- SQL
- Spark
- Hadoop
- Hive
✔ Experience developing dashboards and visualization solutions in Power BI or Tableau.
