Data Solutions Business Lead
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced professional to join our organisation as a Data Solutions Business Lead, within the business function.
This role is responsible for providing business-led solution advisory at the point of data demand intake, ensuring that all data and analytics initiatives are aligned with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and enterprise data strategy. The incumbent will play a key role in guiding solution approaches and platform decisions across both legacy data warehouse environments and the organisation's evolving cloud-based data ecosystem.
The role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, Data Demand Management, and Technology teams to ensure optimal solution design, cost efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Assessment & Demand Structuring
- Partner with business stakeholders to clearly define requirements, objectives, and expected outcomes
- Translate business needs into structured data and analytics solution approaches
- Ensure completeness and appropriate scoping of demand prior to formal technology engagement
Platform Strategy & Decisioning
- Assess and recommend appropriate platform pathways (legacy data warehouse vs cloud-based platforms)
- Evaluate solution options based on time-to-market, cost considerations, regulatory requirements, and architectural alignment
- Ensure alignment with enterprise data modernisation and migration strategies
- Minimise duplication of capabilities and manage technical debt exposure
Solution Advisory & Planning
- Provide high-level solution direction, including identification of suitable platforms and reuse opportunities
- Recommend tactical or interim solutions where required, while safeguarding long-term strategic outcomes
- Collaborate with Technology teams for detailed design validation
Costing, Governance & Prioritisation
- Provide indicative effort estimation, cost sizing, and identification of dependencies
- Support business case development and prioritisation processes
- Prepare structured solution papers for governance and approval forums
Stakeholder Management & Coordination
- Act as a key liaison between business and technology stakeholders
- Facilitate alignment discussions to ensure shared understanding and minimise delivery risk
- Promote adherence to data governance, security, and regulatory standards
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in data, analytics, or data warehouse environments within the banking or financial services industry
- Strong experience with enterprise data warehouse platforms, particularly across regulatory, risk, finance, or customer domains
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Solution assessment or high-level solution design
- Business analysis within data and analytics initiatives
- Data demand management or intake governance
- Data platform migration or modernisation programmes
- Good understanding of regulatory, compliance, and risk considerations in banking data environments
- Proven ability to work effectively with Technology teams, including Solution Architects, Data Engineers, and Cloud specialists
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline
