What You'll Do
- Administer, monitor, and maintain SQL Server databases across on-premises and Azure environments
- Develop and maintain stored procedures, SQL scripts, and SSIS packages
- Perform performance tuning, query optimisation, and capacity planning
- Implement and support HA/DR solutions (Always On, clustering, replication, log shipping)
- Manage backup/restore operations and ensure business continuity
- Work with developers to optimise queries and improve database design
- Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents using monitoring and diagnostic tools
- Support cloud migration, SQL consolidation, and modernisation initiatives
Key Criteria
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent
- 4+ years hands-on SQL Server administration (2014+)
- Strong experience with stored procedures, SQL scripts, and SSIS packages
- Proven HA/DR expertise: Always On, clustering, replication, log shipping
- Exposure to Azure SQL Database or Azure Managed Instance
- Familiarity with tools such as SolarWinds, SCOM, RedGate, or DPA
- Experience collaborating with development and infrastructure teams
- Strong analytical skills, proactive mindset, and excellent communication
Work setup:
- Kuala Lumpur (Mid Valley City): Australian hours (6 am3 pm MYT) with a hybrid setup (3 days onsite, 2 days remote) from the start.
