Job Description
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the planning, organization, management, implementation and operation of the Group's database services.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with IT teams for rapid system restoration, diagnose issues, and apply corrective actions.
- Manage and maintain database environments across Production and Non-Production servers.
- Enforce data access controls, apply security patches, and meet compliance/audit standards.
- Proactively resolve operational issues; optimize queries for performance.
- Strategize and implement database systems with focus on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
- Monitor resource usage and performance; recommend upgrades and capacity improvements.
- Maintain availability and performance through alerts, tuning, and preventive measures.
- Handle installation/configuration standards with attention to security protocols.
- Analyze incidents and trends to execute preventive maintenance.
- Test upgrades/software for compatibility and system security.
- Review and implement change requests with data confidentiality/integrity assurance.
- Automate DBA tasks using Shell, Python, or PowerShell.
- Respond to incidents and execute DR exercises as part of change management.
- Develop and maintain backup/recovery strategies using native or third-party tools.
Main Qualification Requirements:
- IT degree with 3–5 years of 24x7 DBA support experience.
- Proficient in major RDBMS platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, DB2, MySQL).
- Strong grasp of HA/DR, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Preferred experience in ETL, database design, and data warehousing.
- Deep knowledge of database programming, performance tuning, high availability setups, interfaces, architecture, and secure coding.
- Skilled in developing technical standards and SOPs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
- Proven track record in high availability and disaster recovery environments.
- Resilient under pressure and tight deadlines.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Certifications in Microsoft SQL (MCSA/MTA), Oracle, or DB2.
- Certified in cloud-native service integration.
- Familiar with information security and ITIL practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Huawei Cloud Stack.
- Basic knowledge of networking, storage, and security in relation to database systems.
