Scope of Work
The Database Engineer shall be responsible for both database and system-level activities
required to support database platforms.
Database Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade database platforms.
- Design and implement high availability, replication, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Perform database performance tuning and optimization.
- Implement and manage backup, recovery, and data protection strategies.
- Monitor database health, availability, and capacity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related incidents.
- Implement database security controls.
- Support data migration, schema changes, and upgrades.
- Collaborate with application teams on database integration.
System; Infrastructure Responsibilities
- Administer and tune Linux-based operating systems supporting databases.
- Optimize storage, filesystem, and disk I/O performance.
- Manage system resources for database workloads.
- Troubleshoot network connectivity and latency issues.
- Apply OS hardening, patching, and security best practices.
- Implement monitoring and alerting.
- Automate operational tasks.
- Support virtualized, containerized, or cloud deployments.
Required Skills; Competencies
- Strong database administration and data platform experience.
- Solid Linux system administration skills.
- Proven expertise in high availability and disaster recovery.
- Advanced troubleshooting and performance tuning capability.
- Strong understanding of database and system security.
- Experience with monitoring, automation, and observability tools.
- Ability to act as a subject matter expert and technical manager.
