Database Subject Matter Expert - Microsoft SQL Server

Your Always On availability group failed over at 2am. Do you already know which query to run first

We are hiring a Database Subject Matter Expert - Microsoft SQL Server in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. You will be the technical authority for SQL Server across cloud and on-premises environments, keeping business-critical systems available, fast, secure and resilient.

Key responsibilities:

• Administer, monitor and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases across enterprise environments
• Design and support HA/DR: Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, backup and recovery
• Performance tuning: query tuning, indexing strategy and execution plan review
• Lead database upgrades, migrations, patching and modernisation, including moves to Azure SQL
• Implement security controls, access management, encryption and compliance requirements
• Automate operations with T-SQL and PowerShell
• Provide L3 production support, major incident management and root cause analysis
• Maintain documentation, standards and runbooks; work closely with application, infrastructure and cloud teams

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering or related
• 10+ years of Microsoft SQL Server database administration
• Enterprise-scale SQL Server across cloud and on-premises
• SQL Server 2016/2019/2022, Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance
• Performance tuning, HA/DR, backup and recovery
• T-SQL and PowerShell scripting
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder skills; fluent English

Preferred: DP-300, AZ-104 or AZ-305; Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure Arc; Terraform or Bicep; ITIL.

Location: Kuala Lumpur. Candidates anywhere in Malaysia are welcome if able to work in KL.

Salary: MYR 10,000 - 15,000 per month.
