We are seeking a DevOps / Infrastructure Engineer to support and deliver DevOps and platform services for clients in the education sector. This is a client-facing role that requires strong technical expertise combined with the ability to collaborate closely with educators, application teams, and IT stakeholders.
The role focuses on secure infrastructure foundations, DevOps automation, service mesh enablement, and supporting application teams in adopting microservices, primarily within Linux and Microsoft Azure environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver image hardening services to ensure secure, compliant, and reusable base images for client platforms
- Develop and maintain custom HashiCorp plugins to support client-specific infrastructure and automation needs
- Implement and support service mesh solutions to improve service reliability, security, and observability
- Work closely with client application teams to guide and support application modernization, including transitioning from monolithic systems to microservices architectures
Requirements
- Strong experience with Linux administration, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Hands-on experience in DevOps and infrastructure engineering
- Experience building and managing secure, hardened system images
- Solid experience with Jenkins for CI/CD pipeline automation
- Experience with configuration management using Puppet
- Practical experience deploying and operating solutions on Microsoft Azure
- Good understanding of microservices architecture and modern application platforms
- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with non-commercial, mission-driven clients such as educational institutions
Nice to Have
- Experience with HashiCorp tools and development of custom plugins
- Exposure to service mesh technologies (e.g. Istio, Linkerd, Consul)
- Experience supporting public sector or education industry clients
- Familiarity with cloud security, compliance, and best practices in regulated environments
