Job Description
The role will serve as the regional subject matter expert and primary point of contact for commerce marketplace operations across Southeast Asia. This position requires deep experience in managing end-to-end marketplace activities, including commerce operations, seller and brand management, campaign and promotion execution, growth levers, and the broader marketplace ecosystem and tools.
The ideal candidate brings strong digital marketing expertise and is able to translate marketing strategies into marketplace performance, while also integrating technology and systems into commerce operations to drive scalability, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.
This role will oversee and optimize end-to-end marketplace processes, introduce and enhance operational frameworks, and deliver training to uplift capabilities across teams. Close collaboration with regional and client stakeholders is essential to streamline workflows, improve operational efficiency, and support sustainable marketplace growth across SEA markets.
Responsibilities:
Marketplace Operations:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the marketplace in ensuring operational efficiency and revenue accountability.
Ensure smooth and efficient functioning of commerce operations, seller and brand management, and campaign and promotion activities.
Monitor and analyze marketplace performance metrics and KPIs.
Strategic Planning and Execution through Data-Led Insights:
Develop and implement strategic plans for marketplace growth and optimization.
Integrate digital and e-commerce strategies that enhance sales performance across SEA markets
Identify and leverage growth levers to drive marketplace expansion.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute campaigns and promotional activities.
Process Management and Optimization:
Drive marketing automation to introduce new processes and/or optimize existing ones to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Manage the end-to-end process of marketplace operations.
Conduct regular reviews and updates of operational processes for performance optimization.
Training and Development:
Provide training and support to marketplace team members and stakeholders.
Develop training materials and programs to enhance team capabilities.
Ensure continuous learning and development within the team.
Stakeholder Management:
Work closely with client stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements.
Streamline processes and improve efficiencies in collaboration with client teams.
Act as the main point of contact for client inquiries and issues related to marketplace operations.
Marketplace Ecosystem and Tools:
Stay updated on the latest marketplace trends, tools, and technologies.
Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies to enhance marketplace operations.
Build and maintain relationships with key marketplace partners and vendors.
Qualifications:
Required:
10+ years of experience in digital marketing, e-commerce, or related fields, with at least 3+ years in leadership. Tech-enabled commerce operations is an advantage.
Background in managing channel sales (digital preferred), channel marketing and/or promotion and campaign planning for sales & marketing
Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
Intimate knowledge of ecommerce platforms (marketplaces/pure-plays) and their operations across key SEA markets (viz. Lazada, Shopee, TikTok etc.)
Ability to handle client discussions and relationships with a high degree of independence and manage client expectations on a day-to-day basis. The role would involve significant level of direct client connects, so the person is expected to have a good command on English and generally high degree of confidence managing interpersonal engagements
Recommended:
