Global Finance Services (GFS) is the heart of AstraZeneca's finance function. We are responsible for designing and delivering high-quality, easy-to-operate transactional finance processes. These, along with superior business analysis and insight, enable our customers to focus on AstraZeneca's strategic priorities. Our services span record to report, procure to pay, order to cash, tax, planning & forecasting, and management reporting for customers globally. Internship Overview:

The aim of this internship is to provide students with exposure to digital strategy, analytics, and automation within a shared services environment, while offering hands-on experience in a real-life working setting. The intern will support initiatives that improve productivity, standardise processes, and enhance insight generation through data and automation.

Key Responsibilities

The intern will support the team in delivering practical automation and analytics outcomes, including:

Automation & Process Digitisation

  • Support automating repetitive tasks by implementing scripts and/or leveraging no/low-code automation tools to streamline routine activities.
  • Support workflow automation and continuous improvement of internal processes using tools such as Python, Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Apps.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and optimisation by identifying bottlenecks in existing automated workflows and proposing improvements to enhance performance, reliability, and user experience.

Data & Analytics Delivery Support

  • Support the data science/analytics project lifecycle, including problem definition, data sourcing and cleaning, exploratory analysis, basic model prototyping (where relevant), and documentation of results.
  • Assist in building or improving dashboards and reporting (e.g., in Power BI) to help stakeholders monitor performance, service metrics, and operational outcomes.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

  • Prepare and maintain clear documentation describing the steps, logic, controls, and maintenance approach for automated solutions (including process notes, runbooks, and user guides where applicable).
  • Support good governance practices such as version control, clear naming conventions, and structured handover materials to ensure solutions remain sustainable.

Upskilling & Change Enablement Support

  • Contribute to GFS upskilling initiatives by supporting participants with technical skills needs before, during, and after training (e.g., guidance on tools, practice materials, troubleshooting, and follow-up support), under supervision of the team.

Essential Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Data Analysis or a related field.
  • Minimum internship period of 16 weeks or more.
  • Proficient in English, with strong communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation.
  • Knowledge of Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps).
