Job Description

The Direct Procurement Compliance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring that Castrol's direct procurement activities consistently adhere to internal policies, regulatory standards, and global compliance expectations. This position supports the procurement function by monitoring compliance across category management, sourcing, contracting, and supplier management, with a particular focus on direct materials such as base oils, additives, packaging, and finished products/thirdparty manufactured components.

The role partners closely with category teams, hub teams, legal and E&C colleagues, and procurement managers to identify compliance risks, implement effective controls, and drive continuous improvement across procurement practices. The Specialist also contributes to audit readiness, policy enhancements, regulatory reporting, and training initiatives that strengthen a culture of integrity and accountability within the procurement organization.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Compliance & Risk Management

  • Maintain and periodically update Castrol Procurement's risk registers and contribute to Risk Management Reports (RMR) in accordance with bp's Risk Management policy.
  • Lead scheduled and adhoc reviews to assess the effectiveness of procurement controls, ensuring alignment with internal policies, legal requirements, and industry regulations.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate procurementrelated risks, driving and participating in compliancefocused initiatives.

Legal / E&CRelated Responsibilities

  • Support compliance with Export Controls, including screening, documentation requirements, bringing up potential red flags, and ensuring alignment with global trade compliance policies.
  • Monitor supplier adherence to Labor Rights, Modern Slavery regulations, and human rights duediligence standards, bringing up concerns and supporting remediation action plans.
  • Collaborate with Ethics & Compliance (E&C) teams to support investigations, compliance reviews, and policy implementation across procurement.
  • Ensure procurement activities align with antibribery & corruption (ABC) requirements, competition law, sanctions, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Integrate E&C expectations into supplier onboarding, performance reviews, and contract management processes.
  • Maintain awareness of evolving global compliance regulations affecting procurement (e.g., supply chain due diligence acts, ESGrelated requirements, trade rules).

Training, Guidance & Continuous Improvement

  • Deliver training and guidance to procurement and business partners on compliance controls, policy changes, and regulatory obligations (including E&C, trade compliance, and modern slavery requirements).
  • Find opportunities for continuous improvement and implement enhancements to procurement controls, risk mitigation approaches, and compliance frameworks.
  • Provide technical and regulatory compliance expertise to category and hub teams to support issue resolution and process optimization.

Audit, Reporting & Governance

  • Coordinate procurementrelated audits (internal, external, regulatory) and ensure timely completion and closure of all audit findings.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on compliance performance indicators across Castrol Procurement.
  • Consolidate compliance reporting from category and hub teams and present clear, actionable updates to leadership.
  • Contribute to policy updates and governance reviews impacting procurement and supplychain compliance.

Essential Education, Experience & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Business, Law, Ethics & Compliance, or a related field.
  • Experience in procurement compliance, preferably within the oil & gas, manufacturing, or chemicals/lubricants sectors.
  • Exposure to or experience with legal, E&C, export controls, labor/human rights compliance, or modernslavery legislation is highly desirable.
  • Solid understanding of direct procurement processes and supplier management.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, including antibribery, trade compliance, sanctions, ESG, and supplychain duediligence requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and problemsolving capability.
  • Proficiency with procurement systems (e.g., SAP, JDE) and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, educate, and influence diverse partners
