Director, AI & Data - Leading Financial Services Organisation

A leading global financial services organisation is seeking a Director, AI & Data to shape and drive its AI and data agenda across a sophisticated, client-centric business. This is a senior leadership role sitting at the intersection of business, data and technology, with responsibility for translating the potential of AI, Generative AI and advanced analytics into practical, scalable solutions that deliver meaningful business impact.

Working closely with senior business, technology, data and risk stakeholders, you will define the AI and data roadmap, identify high-value opportunities and lead initiatives from strategy and experimentation through to implementation and adoption. The role offers the opportunity to influence how AI and data are embedded across a highly regulated financial institution.

Responsibilities

You will shape and execute the AI and data strategy and roadmap, identifying opportunities where AI, Generative AI, machine learning and advanced analytics can improve client experience, employee productivity, decision-making and business performance. You will work closely with business leaders to translate strategic priorities and business problems into practical AI and data solutions.

You will lead the development and implementation of AI and data initiatives from use-case identification and experimentation through to productionisation, adoption and value realisation. You will help establish the platforms, capabilities and operating model required to scale AI responsibly across the organisation, while ensuring appropriate governance, security, data privacy and regulatory considerations are embedded throughout the lifecycle.

Partnering closely with Technology, Data, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Risk and business teams, you will provide leadership across complex cross-functional initiatives and help bridge the gap between emerging AI capabilities and enterprise implementation. You will also evaluate new technologies and approaches, including Generative AI, LLMs and agentic AI, and determine how they can be practically applied within a regulated financial services environment.

Requirements

You have at least 10-15 years of experience across Data, Analytics, AI and/or Technology, with a strong track record of leading enterprise-scale data and AI initiatives. You combine strategic thinking with strong implementation experience and have successfully taken AI or advanced analytics solutions beyond experimentation into production and business adoption.

You possess a strong understanding of modern data and AI technologies, including machine learning, Generative AI and LLMs, together with the data platforms and engineering capabilities required to support them. You understand the practical considerations around AI governance, model risk, data privacy, security and responsible AI within an enterprise environment.

Experience within banking, wealth management, financial services or another highly regulated industry would be advantageous. You are a commercially minded and pragmatic AI and data leader with excellent stakeholder management skills, comfortable engaging senior business executives while possessing sufficient technical depth to challenge and guide technology, engineering and data teams.
