Strategy & Planning
- Participate in the account planning of key client groups with respective country coverage bankers including Sector, M&A, other Product Teams and Corporate Banking teams in Malaysia and across the region.
- Work with respective country coverage teams to develop pitches for marketing, structuring, pricing and securing mandates from the clients including organising roadshows and presentations to investors.
- Originate new deal ideas and initiatives for development with country coverage and product bankers to create deal opportunities.
- Participate proactively in new product development in respect of underwriting arrangement, private placement & book building implementation as well as developing new/innovative deal proposals.
- Cross-sell and bundle products offered by CIMBG in proposals to clients.
- Network, build and maintain client relationships including C-Suites in Malaysia and across the region with the objective of securing business for CIMBG.
- Keep abreast of the market landscape, key industries highlights and ECMS developments in order to envision and create cross-regional and cross-sector business strategies and capitalise on these opportunities.
Business Performance
- Drive revenue and growth initiatives and be responsible for own budget as well as contributing towards overall ECMS budget.
- Responsible for securing and implementing private placement and underwriting deals, structuring and distribution of initial public offerings (IPO) and placements.
- Responsible to review proposal for Line of Approval (for underwriting commitment) and to manage the risk exposure arising from underwriting commitment.
- Oversee the process of underwriting arrangement, private placement implementation, and book building implementation to ensure that effective services are provided to clients.
- Network with clients and act as a senior client contact for C-Suite corporate clients along with senior coverage and product bankers, and CIMB Group Executive Sponsors.
- Collaborate with other departments locally and regionally to drive returns for the CIMB Group and facilitate collaboration across countries for sharing of best practices and business opportunities.
- Accountable to ensure quality and timeliness of deliverables of mandates under execution.
- Ensure timely authorisation of relevant documents and correspondences, and review of applications to regulatory authorities to maintain the quality of submissions befitting CIMB Group's image and reputation, and liaising with officials of relevant regulatory authorities as and when the need arises.
People Management & Resource Planning
- Develop, build, motivate and lead an effective, cohesive and productive ECMS team
- Develop regional and Malaysian ECMS specialists with the required capabilities to meet the mandated deliverables.
- Supervise and assess staff on their competencies including acting as a coach to identify training needs and promoting personnel development.
- Ensure effective administration and management within the team.
- Act as role model and drive activities to encourage and build desired organisational culture, values and reputation in the Group markets and with all staff, customers and regulatory/official bodies.
- Guide team members to continually upskill and improve technical knowledge and skills, deepening client understanding and industry knowledge including sharing and institutionalising best practices and knowledge.
- Ensure all team members are performing their duties satisfactorily and that team members monitor their respective assignments.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, guidelines and updates, and market conventions issued from time to time.
- Ensure compliance with CIMB Group policies & procedures, Department's policies and procedures, client mandates, and external auditors requirement.
- Directors managing deals outside of Malaysia shall comply with the Policies & Procedures Manual of the relevant countries.
Others
- Represent the Department in CIMBG committees as appointed by the Regional Head of ECMS.
- Perform any other responsibilities / tasks as assigned by management from time to time.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor or Master's Degree or Professional Qualification in the relevant discipline (Accounting/Finance/Business/Economics or equivalent professional qualification).
- Possess dealing in securities and advisory license where required by relevant regulatory authorities.
- 10+ years experience in regional and Malaysian ECMS focused roles in established financial institutions.
- Minimum of 5+ years in Senior Management roles in a established financial institutions.
- In-depth knowledge of local and regional ECMS market landscape, and able to apply this knowledge to local and regional markets.
- Effective, commercial experience in running a business / business unit(s).
- Proven ability to drive revenue and customer portfolio growth.
- Good presentation and influencing skills required in guiding and assisting the deal originators/initiators in putting forward proposals for clients, whenever necessary.
- Good reputation and business network in the investment banking community Internationally.
- Builds strong culture of excellent service and growth opportunities for ECMS to attract and retain top talents.
- The ability to work in collaboration with other teams in Malaysia and across the region.
- Sound people management skills, across regions and in a matrix environment.
