Job Description
Strategy and Planning
- Contribute to the TSA team's business plan by identifying and pursuing high-value structuring and advisory opportunities within assigned sectors and clients.
- Support the Head of TSA on sector strategy, pitch pipeline and origination priorities, including providing input on resourcing requirements for assigned mandates.
Business Performance
- Contribute to the TSA team's revenue, deal volume and other KPIs as agreed with the Head of TSA.
- Originate tailored structuring and advisory mandates across M&A, ECM, DCM, structured/hybrid products, capital structure advisory, liquidity management and restructuring.
- Build and deepen client relationships at senior corporate and board level within assigned coverage, in partnership with senior bankers and Corporate Coverage teams.
- Lead end-to-end execution of transactions, including deal structuring, valuation oversight, financial modelling review, due diligence coordination, transaction documentation review, regulatory submissions and stakeholder negotiations.
- Lead deal teams and coordinate internal product partners across GWB, including IB coverage teams, ECM, DCM, Leveraged & Acquisition Finance, Islamic banking and other relevant product teams, as well as external advisers such as legal, tax, technical and reporting accountants.
- Promote cross-selling of integrated wholesale banking solutions in partnership with Corporate Coverage and product teams.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes and market developments and apply these insights to live transactions, client dialogue and origination efforts.
People Management & Resource Planning
- Lead, mentor and develop deal teams on assigned mandates, including Associate Directors, Managers and junior bankers involved in execution.
- Supervise execution workstreams, review key analyses and support timely delivery of high-quality client materials, transaction documents and internal approval papers.
- Support the Head of TSA in talent development, coaching, performance feedback and knowledge transfer within the TSA team.
- Act as a role model and support activities that encourage the desired organisational culture, values and reputation in the Group's markets and with staff, customers and regulatory/official bodies.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance on assigned mandates with relevant regulatory requirements, guidelines and updates, and market conventions issued from time to time.
- Ensure compliance within assigned deal teams with CIMB Group policies and procedures, Department policies and procedures, client mandates and external auditor requirements.
Others
- Represent TSA in relevant internal and external meetings and perform any other duties as and when instructed by the Head of TSA.
- Perform any other responsibilities/tasks as assigned by Management from time to time.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree, or Professional Qualification, in a relevant discipline (Accounting / Finance / Business / Economics / Engineering or equivalent).
- Possess CMSRL license.
- Minimum 12 to 15 years of relevant investment banking, corporate finance advisory or transaction advisory experience, with a demonstrable track record of originating and executing complex transactions across M&A, ECM, DCM, structured/hybrid, capital raising and restructuring.
- Prior experience leading deal teams and managing multi-workstream execution is required. Experience across multiple sectors and cross-border transactions is preferred.
- Strong technical foundations in deal structuring, valuation methodologies, financial modelling and transaction documentation.
- Deep expertise in end-to-end deal execution across M&A, ECM, DCM and/or structured/hybrid products.
- Strong project management skills across multi-workstream, multi-adviser transactions.
- Ability to coordinate internal product partners and external advisers, including legal, tax, technical and reporting accountants.
- Sound familiarity with Malaysian regulatory requirements, including Securities Commission, Bursa Malaysia and Bank Negara Malaysia requirements, and where relevant, cross-border regulatory frameworks.
- Proven origination and client relationship management ability, including senior corporate and board-level dialogue.
- Leadership, mentoring and team management skills at deal-team and sub-team level.
- Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills.
- Commercial judgement, deal-shaping instinct and ability to identify and mitigate execution risk.
- Professional integrity, discretion and ability to handle confidential client information.
- Ability to work collaboratively with coverage teams, product partners and external advisers in a matrix environment.
