Job Description

We are seeking a detailoriented EHS Engineer on a contract basis to support shortterm Safety, Health, and Environment compliance initiatives.

This role focuses on reviewing, validating, and improving SHErelated data, documentation, and processes to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, company standards, and operational best practices.

Position : EHS Engineer (Contract 3 Months)

Status : 3 months Contract Under PERSOL Workforce Solution Sdn Bhd

Location : Pasir Gudang, Malaysia

Company Background : Manufacturing Industry

Working Days : Monday Friday

Working Hours : 8.00am 5.00pm

Start Date : Immediate availability is preferred

Salary : RM 3,500

Responsibilities

1) To plan, implement, coordinate, and sustain Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) activities, including IMS and RBA audits, continuous compliance monitoring, documentation control, corrective and preventive actions, and ensuring ongoing adherence to all IMS, RBA, and other applicable regulatory and corporate requirements.

2) Conduct regular inspections of the work site to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, or practices. This involves examining equipment, machinery, materials, and work processes to ensure they meet safety standards. Assist Site EHS for routine EHS task (Toolbox meeting/ Site visit / upon site EHS assignment)

3) Assess the risks associated with specific tasks or activities on the site. This involves identifying potential hazards, evaluating their likelihood and severity, and implementing measures to mitigate or eliminate risks.

4) Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with local regulations and industry standards. This may include creating safety manuals, conducting safety training sessions, and ensuring that all workers are aware of and comply with safety rules.

5) Provide safety training to workers, contractors, and subcontractors on topics such as hazard identification, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), emergency procedures, and safe work practices

6) Incident Investigation: Investigate accidents, incidents, or near misses that occur on the work site to determine their root causes and prevent recurrence. This may involve interviewing witnesses, reviewing records, and analyzing data to identify contributing factors

7) Safety Equipment and Gear: Ensure that appropriate safety equipment and gear are available and used correctly by workers. This may include personal protective equipment (PPE) such as helmets, gloves, safety glasses, and harnesses, as well as safety devices on machinery and equipment.

8) Support site EHS in implement emergency response plans for various scenarios, such as fires, chemical spills, or medical emergencies. Ensure that all workers are trained in emergency procedures and that appropriate emergency equipment is readily accessible.

9) Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and corrective actions taken. Prepare reports for management, regulatory agencies, or other stakeholders as required.

10) Stay informed about relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards issued by government agencies or industry organizations. Ensure that the work site complies with these regulations and address any compliance issues promptly.

11) Communicate regularly with management, supervisors, workers, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and address any safety concerns or suggestions. Collaborate with other departments or external parties as needed to ensure comprehensive safety management

12) The personnel shall also undertake any ad-hoc assignments or additional duties as and when required by the Site EHS to support operational, compliance, and business needs.

13) Occasionally, support may be required outside of standard working hours, subject to EHS operational needs. This may include providing EHS support during annual plant preventive maintenance, emergency situations, or night shift drill exercises. Any additional hours worked will be compensated with replacement leave or time off.

Qualifications

Minimum Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, engineering, science, or related field.

2-3 years experience in SHE, HSE, or EHS role, preferably within manufacturing, construction, engineering, or industrial environments.

Complete the Safety and Health Officer Course conducted by a training provider approved by National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia or other DOSH-recognized institutions.

Strong knowledge of local SHE regulations, standards, and compliance requirements (e.g. OSHA, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).

Working knowledge of risk assessment and hazard identification (e.g. HIRARC, JSA).

Experience in incident investigation, basic root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.

Familiarity with manufacturing safety controls, including machine safety, chemical handling, and workplace ergonomics.

Understanding of PermittoWork systems such as hot work, confined space, and LOTO.

Exposure to safety inspections, audits, and compliance checks on the shop floor.

Basic knowledge of environmental management practices, including waste handling and pollution control.

Ability to conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and worker engagement sessions.

Competent in SHE documentation, reporting, and record keeping.

Strong attention to detail, practical problemsolving skills, and ability to work independently on a contract basis.
