Wood is recruiting for an EHS Supervisor to join its Malaysia Business Unit, supporting the delivery of large-scale data centre construction projects. The role will operate as part of the Onsite Owner's Representative team, providing daily safety oversight and ensuring strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety standards across all work fronts.

The Role

The EHS Supervisor will act as the Owner's Representative on site, responsible for monitoring contractor compliance, conducting inspections, and enforcing EHS protocols. This role ensures safe execution of construction activities by verifying risk controls, supporting incident prevention, and promoting a proactive safety culture in a fast-track, mission-critical environment.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Field Safety Oversight

  • Conduct daily site walks, toolbox observations, and task-based risk assessments
  • Verify implementation of Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), permits to work, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Monitor high-risk activities (working at height, lifting operations, hot works, confined space) and ensure controls are in place

Compliance, Audits & Reporting

  • Perform routine EHS inspections and audits; document findings and corrective actions
  • Track EHS KPIs and contribute to weekly/monthly reporting for Owner review
  • Support readiness for regulatory inspections and maintain complete records

Incident Prevention & Response

  • Coach crews on hazard identification and near-miss reporting; reinforce stop-work authority
  • Assist in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
  • Maintain incident logs and verify closure of actions

Training & Safety Culture

  • Support delivery of inductions, daily briefings, and targeted EHS training
  • Promote proactive safety behaviors and visible leadership in the field
  • Coordinate with GC and subcontractors to ensure consistent safety messaging

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Work closely with the Owner, EHS Manager, General Contractor, and subcontractors to resolve EHS issues promptly
  • Participate in daily/weekly coordination meetings and provide clear updates on risks and actions

Expected

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 710 years of site-based EHS experience on large construction or industrial projects
  • Holds a valid Safety & Health Officer (SHO) / Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) certification
  • Experience within mission-critical/data centre environments is highly desirable
  • Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, high-risk activity controls, and audit practices
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence behaviors and drive corrective actions
