Position Overview
We are seeking a well-rounded Electrical Engineer with a strong background in both consultancy/design engineering and on-site supervision or package ownership. The successful candidate will play a critical role in bridging design intent with site execution, ensuring technical compliance, quality delivery, and coordination across stakeholders.
This role requires hands-on experience managing electrical packages from design review through installation, testing, and handover.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Technical Review (Consultant Background)
- Review and validate electrical design drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with design consultants to resolve technical discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with:
- Local Malaysian standards and authority requirements
- IEC / BS standards
- Client technical specifications
- Review load calculations, short circuit studies, protection coordination, and cable sizing.
- Provide technical input during value engineering and design optimization stages.
- Support authority submissions and approvals where required.
Site Supervision & Package Ownership
- Act as Electrical Package Owner for assigned scope (e.g., LV/MV systems, UPS, generators, lighting, small power).
- Supervise installation works to ensure compliance with approved drawings and standards.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and site teams.
- Monitor progress, quality, and safety of electrical works.
- Review method statements, shop drawings, and material submittals.
- Manage site inspections and testing activities.
- Track RFIs, NCRs, and technical clarifications.
- Lead FAT, SAT, and commissioning support activities.
- Ensure timely closure of punch list items.
- Manage handover documentation and as-built drawings.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Interface between consultant, contractor, client, and authorities.
- Participate in technical meetings and progress reviews.
- Provide clear reporting on package status, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Support project schedule coordination related to electrical scope
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of:
MV/LV distribution systems
Switchgear & transformers
Generators & UPS systems
Protection systems
Earthing & lightning protection
- Familiar with Malaysian codes and international standards.
- Experience in industrial, infrastructure, or Data Center projects preferred.
- Strong coordination and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret and reconcile design drawings with site conditions.
Preferred Experience
- 510+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in mission-critical facilities is advantageous.
- Knowledge of ETAP or similar electrical analysis software.
- Experience in commissioning and testing processes.
- Registered with BEM (Board of Engineers Malaysia) is an advantage.
