About the Role
As an Electrical Senior Engineer in our Regional Value Engineering team, you will help develop, lead, and serve on regional and enterprise-wide engineering initiatives to create greater product capability and cost performance for global-Watlow, while also deepening our technical and operational capabilities in Asia. Located at our Manufacturing Operations in Kedah, Malaysia, you will report directly to the Engineering Manager, Malaysia, and will play a key role within the cross-functional Value Added/Value Engineering team, focusing on identifying, evaluating, and implementing cost-effective electrical component and system improvements without compromising product safety, performance, or compliance. You will routinely partner with design, sourcing, quality, and compliance stakeholders to lead the mechanical domain in all phases of VA/VE activity.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Lead functional analysis of electrical subsystems and identify opportunities to eliminate cost, complexity, or redundancy.
- Evaluate alternative components, circuit designs, and supplier solutions for equivalent or improved functionality.
- Drive schematic, layout, and BOM updates for cost-optimized electrical designs.
- Coordinate with compliance and testing teams to validate modified circuits or assemblies.
- Define and guide testing of electrical prototypes during design validation and pilot builds.
- Ensure proposed changes maintain safety standards (e.g., UL, IEC), EMC compliance, and thermal performance.
- Interface with suppliers to review alternate components for viability, lead times, and cost structure.
- Document and communicate risks, benefits, and trade-offs associated with electrical alternatives.
- Support change verification/validation analyses and testing as needed.
Required Qualifications
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 8+ years of experience in electrical design, validation, or sustaining engineering
- Demonstrated success in value engineering, cost-down, or design optimization projects
- Familiarity with relevant compliance frameworks (UL, CE, RoHS, etc.)
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills
- Proficiency with circuit design tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD) and testing equipment
Desired Qualifications and Attributes
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field is highly desired.
- Experience applying bonded elastomer technologies in automotive, aerospace, medical device, semiconductor, or industrial manufacturing.
- Familiarity with FMEA, control plans, and PPAP (if in regulated industries).
- Experience in a design for manufacturing environment.
- Must have experiences in Value Added Value Engineering (VAVE)
