Position Title: Electrical Technician II
Department: Operations
Location: Petaling Jaya, Selangor
Reports To: Operations Team Leader
Shift Requirement: Rotating Shifts (3 Rotating Shifts in 5 days)
Position Purpose
To ensure the smooth operation of the plant by performing skilled electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production machinery and facility equipment. You will act as a key technical resource for minimizing downtime and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Rapid Response: Attend immediately to machine and equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime. Troubleshoot and rectify faults in all electrical installations and control systems efficiently.
- Preventive Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance on electrical motors, control panels, and automation systems, including the replacement of faulty units or components.
- Substation & Power: Maintain all electrical installations and equipment in the Low Tension (LT) substation to ensure continuous power supply and optimal working condition.
- MCC Management: Ensure the Motor Control Center (MCC) is kept clean, organized, and strictly maintained to safety standards.
- Installation & Improvement
- New Equipment: Lead or support the installation and commissioning of new production machinery, including PLC-based control systems and automation upgrades.
- Vendor Supervision: Supervise external contractors and vendors during on-site activities, ensuring they adhere to safety protocols (LOTO) and technical specifications.
- Instrumentation: Provide technical support for instrumentation-related works and calibration where required.
- Safety & Compliance
- Safety Inspections: Conduct routine safety inspections on all portable electrical tools and facility equipment to ensure they are safe for use.
- HSE Compliance: Strictly adhere to all Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, including Lock-Out Tag-Out (LOTO) procedures during all repair works.
- Administration & Reporting
- Daily Monitoring: Perform and record daily readings from key electrical indicators (Voltmeters, Ammeters, Power Factor Meters, KWH Meters).
- Documentation: Maintain a detailed daily log of all activities, breakdowns, and repairs completed during the shift.
- Problem Solving: Actively discuss equipment problems with the Maintenance Engineer and recommend effective remedial actions to prevent recurrence.
Job Requirements
- Education: Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field from a recognized Polytechnic or Institute.
- Experience: 2-3 years of hands-on experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred. However, fresh graduates with a relevant Certificate/Diploma, a positive attitude, and a strong willingness to learn are highly encouraged to apply.
- Professional Certification: Possession of a valid Electrical Chargeman Certificate (Type A0 or higher) is a strong advantage.
- Language Skills: Proficient in both written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Physical Requirement: Must be in good physical health and able to handle the physical demands of maintenance work (climbing, lifting, etc.).
- Shift Work: Must be willing and able to work rotating shifts to support 24/7 plant operations.
