We're looking to add an Engineering & Business Director in Tebrau,Johor Bharu.

About the role:

As an Engineering & Business Director, you are responsible to provide overall engineering, technology, customer engagement and business operations, and P&L management for a portfolio of optical communication products, including high-speed optical transceivers. Lead the organization from early customer and product engagement through technical assessment, quotation, NPI, industrialization and volume manufacturing, ensuring new products are technically feasible, manufacturable, competitive and successfully transitioned into production.

You own the technical relationship with key customers while providing engineering leadership across product, process, manufacturing, test and NPI functions. Manage a business portfolio, with responsibility for business growth, investment decisions and overall business performance with full accountability for portfolio results and P&L ownership.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across Product, Process, Manufacturing, Test Engineering, and NPI.

• Partner with customers early in product development to assess manufacturability, scalability, quality, cost, and technical risks.

• Drive technical evaluations, RFQs, manufacturing solutions, cost modeling, and competitive quotations.

• Lead NPI programs from concept, prototype, qualification, and production ramp-up to volume manufacturing.

• Develop manufacturing technologies, automation, equipment strategies, and engineering capabilities for future products.

• Support business development through customer engagement, technical presentations, and capability positioning.

• Improve manufacturing performance in quality, yield, productivity, delivery, and cost.

• Define facility, infrastructure, and capital investment requirements for growth and new technologies.

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Photonics, Optoelectronics, Optical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related discipline. Master's or PhD preferred.

• 15+ years of engineering leadership experience in optical communications, photonics, optoelectronics, semiconductor, or advanced electronics manufacturing, including customer engagement, NPI, industrialization, and high-volume manufacturing operations.

• Experience in multidisciplinary teams across engineering, NPI, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, program management and commercial functions.

• Leverage deep photonics expertise and commercial insight to act as the senior customer-facing leader, shaping technology strategies, expanding business opportunities, and strengthening strategic customer partnerships.

• Ability to build and develop engineering talent, elevate organizational technical capability, and foster a high-performance culture of technical excellence, customer focus, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement
