Overview:
The EDW Specialist will work closely with users, the ETL (Extract, Transform and Load) team and data modellers to advise and ensure optimization of the database architecture, Logical Data Model (LDM) and Product Data Management (PDM) design best practices. He/she also needs to develop and deliver the Data Lake strategy and roadmap, architecture, guiding principles and best practice. Other key responsibilities are as detailed below:
Responsibilities:
Database management and performance tuning
- Analyze and perform query fine tuning
- Monitor and report on system utilization and node performance
- Tune resource intensive queries using various techniques such as indexing, suggesting rewriting queries, gathering proper statistics, etc.
Data Lake Solution
- Ensure data optimization and process improvement
- Develop and ensure timely delivery (e.g. Statutory reporting, Real-time & Batch Campaign)
- To design, develop, test and implement technical solutions on projects and daily service request
Research & Analysis
- Perform research on projects, change requests, solution efficiency and problem resolution
- To support future applications and services by HLB Data Lake solution
Project Management & Production Support
- Monitor the technical tasks & ensure deliverables are delivered within the project timeline
- Work with Business PM & IT PM, business users to define & support business UAT
- Responsible for production support and outages are resolved within expected service levels
Other responsibilities
- Vendor management
- Big Data enhancements
- R&D activities on new technologies
Skills & Experience We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
- Professional certification (Teradata/PostgreSQL/Informatica)
Experience & Skillsets
Possess 3 to 5 years of similar experience in:
- Data warehouse architecture with toolset capabilities
- Practicing information management best practices
- SQL knowledge and hands-on (with strong usage)
- Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) methodology
- Handling user requirements with at least 2 implementation projects
Working knowledge of the following:
- Database: Teradata / PostgresSQL / Big Data (Hive/Spark)
- Systems: Linux / Unix
- Utilities: Teradata utilities, Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), Informatica, Netbackup
