The Equipment Engineer is responsible for ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and efficiency of equipment and machinery used in production or operations. This role involves equipment design, installation, maintenance planning, performance monitoring—including tracking and improving Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)—and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Equipment Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to support production goals while maintaining safety, quality, and compliance standards.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESINCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Design, specify, and implement equipment and tools for production or operational processes.
- Develop preventive maintenance schedules and perform root cause analysis for equipment failures.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and safety teams to ensure equipment meets performance and compliance standards.
- Monitor equipment performance metrics and drive improvements for reliability, efficiency, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime and improve productivity.
- Work on development or improvement of testers, equipment & machine with colleagues from Technology & CoE.
- Evaluate and recommend new equipment or upgrades based on performance needs and ROI.
- Manage equipment documentation, including maintenance logs, manuals, calibration records, and SOPs.
- Oversee spare parts inventory, including identifying critical spares, maintaining optimal stock levels, and coordinating with procurement to ensure availability.
- Lead and support Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) initiatives, including autonomous maintenance, planned maintenance, and continuous improvement activities.
- Train technicians and operators on proper equipment usage, TPM practices, and maintenance procedures.
- Coordinate equipment calibration programs, including scheduling with internal teams and external vendors, maintaining up-to-date calibration records, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Ensure all equipment complies with regulatory and safety standards.
- Participate in capital projects involving equipment installation, modification, or relocation.

Qualifications
Education:
- Master's degree in Electronic Systems, Electrical Engineering or Physics Engineering
Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in equipment engineering, maintenance engineering, or a related role.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of industrial equipment, automation systems, and maintenance best practices.
- Experience on electronics systems & testers development is a must.
- Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on troubleshooting ability.
- Familiar with ISO 9001 and ISO 45001.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
- Able to manage self and others to achieve challenging targets.
- Good team skills - a high level of enthusiasm and motivation, and the ability to take input from others.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma will be added advantage.
