Export Specialist

Role Summary

The Export Specialist is responsible for managing end-to-end export operations to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective shipments to global markets. This role serves as the key point of contact for export documentation, customs compliance, transportation planning, freight management, and coordination with internal stakeholders and external logistics providers. The incumbent will support continuous improvement initiatives, cost optimization opportunities, and operational excellence across export and logistics activities.

Key Responsibilities

Export Operations & Trade Compliance

• Coordinate and execute end-to-end export shipments from order receipt through final delivery.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations, export controls, duties, tariffs, Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), and trade compliance requirements.
• Prepare, review, and manage export documentation.
  
  

Transportation & Logistics Planning

• Plan and coordinate transportation activities to ensure on-time shipment execution.
• Manage loading activities and shipment scheduling with warehouses, freight forwarders, carriers, and customers.
• Coordinate sea freight, air freight, and local transportation arrangements.
• Monitor freight costs and identify opportunities for logistics optimization and cost savings.
• Track shipment status and proactively resolve logistics issues to minimize service disruptions.
• Convert shipment forecasts and customer orders into daily/weekly transport plans
  
  

Carrier and route planning

• Select carriers, routes, ports, transport modes, and service options based on cost, transit time, reliability, and cargo requirements.
  
  

3PL & Freight Forwarder Management

• Coordinate daily activities with customs brokers, freight forwarders, transporters, and logistics providers.
• Monitor and track 3PL performance against agreed KPIs and service levels.
• Support monthly logistics performance reviews and freight cost analysis.
• Ensure freight invoices are validated accurately and submitted on time.
  
  

Process Improvement

• Drive logistics process improvements, standardization, digitization, and simplification initiatives.
• Develop and maintain export SOPs and work instructions.
• Support continuous improvement projects to improve service, compliance, and cost efficiency.
  
  

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, Business Administration, or related field.
• 5-8 years of hands-on end-to-end export operations experience.
• Strong experience in:
• Export documentation
• Export declarations
• Customs clearance and compliance
• Transportation planning
• Loading and shipment coordination
• Sea freight and air freight operations
• Freight cost management
• Customs brokers and freight forwarder coordination
• Knowledge of customs regulations, duties, tariffs, FTAs, HS Codes, and export compliance requirements.
• Experience with SAP ERP (SAP S4/HANA preferred).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience leading or coordinating a small operations team of approximately 5 people is advantageous.
