Position Overview
The Factory Manager will be accountable for the overall leadership, setup, and management of factory operations, ensuring that production, workforce, fleet, and facilities run efficiently, safely, and in alignment with business objectives. This role will drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and compliance with international quality, environmental, and safety standards. The Factory Manager will collaborate cross-functionally to optimize resources, deliver high-quality products, and support organizational growth.
Key Responsibilities
Factory Operations & Production
- Lead end-to-end factory operations including production planning, scheduling, and execution to achieve output, quality, and cost objectives.
- Oversee setup, commissioning, and ongoing optimization of infrastructure, machinery, and manufacturing processes.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to maximize productivity and minimize waste.
Workforce & Leadership
- Recruit, train, mentor, and lead factory personnel to foster a high-performance culture.
- Establish clear performance standards and conduct regular evaluations to ensure operational excellence.
- Promote employee engagement, teamwork, and a culture of safety and accountability.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure strict compliance with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or equivalent) and other international quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety frameworks.
- Drive robust quality control processes to ensure products meet or exceed industry and customer requirements.
- Champion workplace safety by enforcing compliance with regulatory standards and best practices, minimizing risks and incidents.
Cost & Resource Management
- Develop and manage operational budgets, monitor financial performance, and drive cost reduction initiatives.
- Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, equipment, and materials while balancing cost efficiency and quality output.
- Implement effective procurement and inventory control strategies to reduce downtime and ensure material availability.
Fleet Management
- Oversee the companys fleet operations including scheduling, utilization, maintenance, and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor fleet performance, fuel efficiency, and operational costs, ensuring alignment with sustainability and efficiency goals.
- Implement digital systems or telematics for tracking, optimizing routes, and enhancing overall fleet productivity.
Facility Management
- Manage all aspects of facility operations including building maintenance, security, utilities, and space optimization.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards within the factory and supporting facilities.
- Lead facility-related projects such as renovations, expansions, and implementation of energy-saving initiatives.
Strategic & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with engineering, R&D, supply chain, procurement, and commercial teams to align production with business strategy.
- Contribute to product innovation by ensuring factory readiness for new product introductions.
- Develop and present operational reports, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership for informed decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Industrial Management, Operations, or related field (Masters preferred).
- Minimum 810 years of progressive experience in factory management, with exposure to automation, robotics, automotive, electronics, or related industries.
- Demonstrated experience in factory setup, production planning, and process optimization.
- Proven track record in implementing Lean, Six Sigma, TPM, or other global best practices in manufacturing excellence.
- Strong knowledge of ISO quality, safety, and environmental management systems.
- Experience in managing fleet and facility operations at scale.
- Financial acumen with expertise in budget management, cost control, and ROI analysis.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and people management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a hands-on, solutions-oriented approach.
