Our client is a newly established investment management firm based in Kuala Lumpur focused on real estate private equity opportunities. The firm is founded by experienced investment professionals and is currently building its core team and operational platform as it prepares to deploy capital and scale its investment activities.
The platform focuses on sourcing, structuring, and managing real estate investment opportunities, with a disciplined approach to asset selection and long term value creation. As an emerging investment manager, the firm operates with a lean and entrepreneurial structure where team members are expected to take ownership, work independently, and contribute across multiple areas of the business.
Role Summary
The Finance & Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the firm's finance, fund accounting coordination, and operational infrastructure. This is a hands-on role suited to an agile professional who can operate independently in a growing private equity platform.
Key Responsibilities
Finance and Fund Support
- Oversee day to day financial management of the management company and related entities
- Liaise with external finance providers and fund administrators on bookkeeping, reporting, and audit matters
- Support fund finance activities including capital calls, distributions, and investor reporting coordination
- Monitor cash flow, budgets, and financial forecasts
- Ensure timely statutory filings and compliance with Malaysian financial requirements
Operations
- Establish and maintain operational processes, controls, and documentation
- Support vendor management and service provider coordination
- Assist with corporate structuring and entity management as the firm grows
- Drive process improvements to support scalability
HR and Administrative Support
- Coordinate payroll inputs with external providers
- Support onboarding logistics for new hires
- Maintain employee records and HR documentation
- Assist founders with operational HR matters as needed
Governance and Controls
- Implement internal controls appropriate for an emerging investment manager
- Support audit and compliance requirements
- Ensure proper documentation and record keeping across the firm
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant experience in finance, fund operations, or accounting
- Prior exposure to private equity, real estate funds, asset management, or investment platforms strongly preferred
- Experience in SME or emerging manager environments is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of Malaysian statutory and financial requirements
- Comfortable operating as an individual contributor without large team support
- High level of ownership, independence, and attention to detail
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent is preferred
Preferred Profile
- Background in fund services, PE-backed firms, or real estate investment platforms
- Experience working with outsourced finance providers
- Prior involvement in building processes from scratch
