Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Manager to lead end-to-end financial management for our operations in Malaysia and Taiwan, while providing essential accounting and strategic support for Singapore entity. As part of a growing startup team, this role balances hands-on execution (full-set accounting and compliance) with building scalable financial processes and supporting regional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Accounting & Operations
- Manage end-to-end accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end closing activities.
- Maintain full-set accounting, bookkeeping, general ledger integrity, and routine account reconciliations.
- Manage intercompany transactions, agreements, and tracking mechanisms for fund flows.
- Provide mutual backup and cross-coverage for core operational duties to ensure continuous workflow and team efficiency.
2. Startup Governance, SOPs & Financial Control
- Oversee end-to-end payment workflows, including internal controls, vendor approval hierarchies, invoice verifications, and sign-off SOPs.
- Track and control corporate expenses and departmental operational budgets to optimize cash runway and capital efficiency.
- Prepare, maintain, and analyse dynamic cash flow forecasts to safeguard liquidity for Malaysia entities in close coordination with Singapore Finance teams.
3. Statutory Compliance, Tax & Audit Management
- Oversee local regulatory and statutory requirements in Malaysia, including SST calculation, preparation, submission, and verification.
- Ensure full implementation and ongoing compliance with government E-invoicing standards and regulations.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external tax agents, auditors, corporate secretaries, and local financial authorities for Malaysia and Taiwan operations.
4. Stakeholder Collaboration & Cross-Border Alignment
- Maintain effective correspondence and strong working relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and regional team.
- Align accounting structures and Chart of Accounts (COA) with the Singapore team to ensure consistent financial categorization and seamless reporting.
- Collaborate with regional management to align cross-border financial procedures, internal controls, and operational workflows.
- Support the Singapore finance team and founders with financial projections, pitch deck metrics, and periodic financial updates for stakeholders when needed.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Work Authorization: Must be legally eligible to work in Malaysia without requiring employment pass or visa sponsorship.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Finance, Accounting, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience: Min 5 years of relevant experience in financial accounting, full-set accounting, or finance management. Prior experience handling regional accounts or working in a startup environment is a strong plus.
- Compliance Knowledge: Sound knowledge of Malaysian tax legislation, SST requirements, and local statutory compliance (including E-invoicing frameworks).
- Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software/ERP systems and Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables). Tech-savvy with a proactive mindset toward adopting AI tools and automated workflows.
- Languages: Strong command of spoken and written English and Mandarin (to effectively communicate with stakeholders and vendors in Taiwan and Singapore).
- Attributes: Strong ownership and responsibility, high attention to detail, strong problem-solving capabilities, and adaptability in a dynamic regional startup environment.
