Job Description

Role Overview

As Finance Manager, you will lead the company's finance function for MCC Labels Penang plant.

You will oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, tax compliance and process automation. Beyond technical proficiency, you will act as a strategic business partner to the leadership team, providing financial insights that drive decision-making, operational efficiency, and profitable growth.

This role demands a balance between strategic thinking and operational execution, making it ideal for a hands-on finance professional comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Budgeting

  • Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes.
  • Partner with functional leads to align financial goals with entity-wide KPIs/OKRs.
  • Prepare financial reports (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with detailed variance and trend analysis.
  • Develop and track KPIs for gross margin, operating costs, cash runway, and efficiency ratios.
  • Provide scenario modelling for strategic decisions including pricing, hiring, and market expansion.

Financial Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Manage statutory audits, local tax filings, and payroll processing in collaboration with MCC shared service centre, external service providers/accountants and tax advisors.
  • Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
  • Maintain robust internal controls and financial policies to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy in reporting.
  • Review and continuously improve accounting workflows, including document retention, invoice approval, and expense claim procedures.

Strategic Finance & Business Partnering

  • Support the Plant GM in developing the entity's financial strategy.
  • Provide insights on product profitability and cost optimization.
  • Prepare performance reports and dashboards.
  • Translate financial data into clear, actionable narratives for non-financial stakeholders.

Cash & Treasury Management

  • Develop and maintain rolling cash flow forecasts to ensure healthy liquidity.
  • Monitor receivables aging, payment cycles, and intercompany settlements.
  • Manage banking relationships, foreign currency exposures, and treasury operations.
  • Implement cash control mechanisms, approval limits, and payment authorizations procedures.
  • Support leadership in risk mitigation strategies.

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Drive implementation of new ERP systems.
  • Establish scalable processes and documentation for financial operations in line with internal control and audit requirements.
  • Champion continuous improvement to improve accuracy, efficiency, and transparency.

Team Leadership & People Development

  • Manage and mentor the finance team, ensuring accountability, continuous learning, and collaboration.
  • Provide coaching, feedback, and training in financial best practices, system use, and compliance.
  • Model MCC's values in daily leadership and decision-making.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting/ finance.
  • Professional certification such as CPA, ACCA or ACA preferred.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 3 years in a finance leadership role managing the month-end financial reporting.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and advanced Excel.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; able to collaborate with teams across business functions.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, agile, and multicultural environment.
