JOB DESCRIPTION: FINANCE MANAGER (SUCCESSION TO FINANCIAL CONTROLLER)

Job Title: Finance Manager (High-Potential / Succession Track to Financial Controller)

Company: Bursa Malaysia Main Market Listed Technology Group

Location: Klang Valley, Malaysia

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Reporting Line: Group Financial Controller (GFC) / Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Supervises: Assistant Finance Managers, Senior Accountants, and Shared/Operational Finance Team (5–8 direct/indirect reports)

Position Overview & Career Pathway

We are seeking an ambitious, high-caliber, and commercially astute Finance Manager to lead our finance operations, group reporting, and financial governance. Operating within a high-growth, fast-paced Bursa Malaysia Main Market listed technology environment (spanning software-as-a-service, digital platforms, enterprise IT solutions, and tech infrastructure), this position is structured as a deliberate succession-planning appointment.

The successful incumbent will be mentored directly by the Group Financial Controller and CFO, with a clearly defined development pathway to assume the Financial Controller (FC) role within the next 24 to 36 months based on performance milestones, leadership maturity, and strategic impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Group Financial Reporting & Bursa Listing Compliance
  • Oversee the end-to-end month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing cycles for group holding companies and multi-tier operating subsidiaries.
  • Lead the consolidation of group financial statements in strict compliance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS / IFRS).
  • Spearhead the preparation and submission of Bursa Malaysia Quarterly Reports (Chapter 9, Appendix 9B), Annual Reports, and corporate circulars.
  • Direct technical accounting treatments unique to high-growth tech business models, including MFRS 15 (complex multi-element revenue recognition, SaaS subscription licenses, service-level agreements), MFRS 16 (leases), and MFRS 138 / MFRS 9 (intangible software capitalization, R&D tax incentives, and financial instruments).
  • Serve as the principal liaison for external auditors, tax consultants, internal audit committees, and corporate secretarial teams to ensure timely statutory filings with zero non-compliance.
  • Commercial Business Partnering & FP&A
  • Act as a strategic co-pilot to Business Unit Heads, Product Leaders, and the C-suite, translating complex operational data into actionable commercial insights.
  • Lead the annual budgeting, rolling forecasting, and mid-to-long-range financial planning (LRP) processes across business units.
  • Monitor and analyze core tech operational KPIs—such as Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), Lifetime Value (LTV), Churn Rate, and EBITDA margins.
  • Conduct commercial viability reviews, pricing sensitivity modeling, and ROI evaluations for new digital product rollouts, client enterprise tenders, and partnership agreements.
  • Treasury, Cash Flow & Working Capital Governance
  • Supervise group treasury activities, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity planning to support active expansion, R&D deployment, and operational requirements.
  • Optimize working capital management, driving debtor aging reductions, billing milestones, and creditor payment schedules.
  • Oversee corporate banking facilities, bank guarantees, FX risk hedging, and compliance with debt/banking covenants.
  • Corporate Finance & Strategic Transactions (Succession Focus)
  • Actively support the CFO and GFC in corporate exercises, including M&A due diligence, tech asset acquisitions, joint ventures, share buybacks, private placements, or employee share option schemes (ESOS).
  • Participate in Board of Directors (BOD) and Audit Committee (AC) meeting preparations, drafting board papers and variance commentaries.
  • Internal Controls, ERP Transformation & Process Optimization
  • Continuously review and strengthen the group's internal control framework, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and delegated limits of authority (LOA).
  • Drive digital finance transformation—championing automated financial workflows, Power BI dashboard rollouts, and ERP system enhancements (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) to scale with business growth.
  • People Leadership & Talent Development
  • Manage, mentor, and build technical capability across the finance and accounting team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, operational agility, high ethical standards, and cross-functional collaboration.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Professional Accreditation: Full member of a recognized professional accounting body (ACCA, CPA Australia, MICPA, CA ANZ, CIMA, ICAEW) and a registered member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
  • Experience:
    • 8 to 12 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with at least 3 to 5 years in a managerial capacity.
    • Formative training in a Big 4 / Top-tier audit firm combined with commercial experience in a Bursa Malaysia public-listed company (PLC) or a high-growth technology / SaaS / digital platform / telecommunications organization.
    • Demonstrable experience preparing Bursa Malaysia quarterly notes (Appendix 9B) and handling audited group consolidations.
  • Technical Mastery:
    • Deep practical knowledge of MFRS/IFRS (particularly MFRS 15, MFRS 16, and intangible asset capitalization).
    • Familiarity with the Malaysian Companies Act 2016, Capital Markets and Services Act (CMSA), and Bursa Malaysia Main Market Listing Requirements.
    • Hands-on proficiency in Tier-1 ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics) and Business Intelligence tools (Power BI, Tableau, Advanced Excel financial modeling).
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES & ATTRIBUTES

  • Dynamic & Growth-Minded: Possesses strong ambition and adaptability; demonstrates the executive presence and commercial maturity required to transition smoothly into the Financial Controller seat.
  • Strong Ethical Compass: Uncompromising integrity, governance mindset, and professional skepticism when evaluating transactions and internal controls.
  • Commercial Acumen: Ability to look beyond the general ledger to understand commercial trade-offs, technology drivers, and enterprise business scaling.
  • Stakeholder Influence: Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia (Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage when liaising with regional tech partners/stakeholders).
