Job Description

About Qra (pronounced Q-ra) is a modern lifestyle grocer, thoughtfully designed to bring communities closer through quality food, curated selections, and personalised experiences — all delivered with a genuine Qra touch.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Finance Manager who combines strong financial discipline with commercial thinking and a hands-on approach. This role will play a key part in driving financial performance, improving profitability, strengthening cash flow, and building scalable finance processes to support Qra's growth.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Finance Director and partnering closely with the Founder/CEO and leadership team, the Finance Manager will lead Qra's day-to-day finance and accounting functions while serving as a key business partner across the organisation.

You will oversee financial reporting, cash flow management, budgeting, compliance, internal controls, and finance operations. Beyond ensuring accuracy and governance, you will provide insights that support decision-making, improve profitability, optimise working capital, and enable sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee the full spectrum of finance operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, inventory accounting, fixed assets, and treasury functions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts, financial statements, and performance reports.
  • Maintain the integrity of financial records, balance sheet reconciliations, and inventory accounting.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory requirements, tax regulations, and audit requirements.

Budgeting, Performance & Commercial Finance

  • Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
  • Analyse financial performance against budgets and forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Monitor key business KPIs including sales, gross margin, EBITDA, inventory days, and store P&L.
  • Partner with Merchandising, Store Operations, Marketing, and F&B teams to evaluate performance, profitability, pricing, promotions, and investment decisions.
  • Support business cases for new store openings, capital expenditure, and strategic initiatives.

Cash Flow, Controls & Process Improvement

  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity across the business.
  • Optimise inventory levels, receivables, payables, and supplier payment terms.
  • Oversee store cash collection, banking, reconciliations, and cash controls.
  • Strengthen internal controls, policies, and governance frameworks.
  • Drive process improvements, reporting enhancements, system optimisation, and automation initiatives.

Leadership & Business Partnering

  • Lead, coach, and develop the finance team, ensuring clear accountability and strong execution.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships and provide financial guidance to business leaders.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, ICAEW, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  • 6–10 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, financial planning, or business partnering, including experience leading a finance team.
  • Experience in Retail, FMCG, Food & Beverage, Hospitality, or other inventory-intensive, multi-site consumer businesses is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and internal controls.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP, POS, inventory management, and financial systems.
  • Commercially minded, analytical, hands-on, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • High integrity, attention to detail, and a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
