Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Financial Reporting Specialist to join our finance team based in Malaysia. This role will be part of a team that produces high‑quality IFRS financial reporting, provides technical accounting expertise, and supports the business with complex accounting judgements, impairment assessments, sustainability reporting, and ad‑hoc reporting and compliance requirements.
This is a hands‑on technical role suited to a professional who enjoys problem‑solving, interpreting accounting standards, and partnering closely with senior finance leaders, auditors, and stakeholders across the region.
KEY FOCUS AREAS THE ROLE WILL INCLUDE:
Financial Reporting & IFRS Compliance
- Prepare and support the preparation of IFRS‑compliant financial statements, disclosures, and supporting schedules, including quarterly and annual reporting.
- Support the application of IFRS accounting policies across group entities.
- Monitor new and amended IFRS standards and assess impacts on the business.
- Draft technical accounting position papers and accounting memos for complex matters
- Provide clear, well‑reasoned technical advice to senior finance stakeholders.
- Support impairment assessments for goodwill, intangibles, and PPE.
Ad‑hoc Reporting & Projects
- Support ad‑hoc financial analysis, transactions, and special projects.
- Collaborate with other finance team members and departments across the Company to troubleshoot and manage day-to-day issues as they arise-hoc tasks and projects assigned by the Manager or other Finance leaders.
- Support the review of cash flow models and key assumptions.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have the following attributes and qualifications
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS and experience in researching and documenting technical accounting issues
- Experience working across multiple jurisdictions (North America and Asia Pacific).
- Experience in similar reporting or audit roles, with a professional qualification such as CPA or CA, preferably with industry experience and 5 years experience.
- Big four accounting firm experience is desirable.
- Experience with sustainability-reporting standards or frameworks such as IFRS S2 or TCFD disclosures would be an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex issues independently and propose practical solutions. High integrity, self-motivation, and ability to work in both independent and collaborative settings in a fast paced, high-volume environment.
- Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues for non-technical stakeholders.
