General Accounting Manager JG4
Job Description Summary
The General Accounting Manager plays an important role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance. Reporting to the Senior Accounting Manager and/or Global Operations Lead, this role will be overseeing the general accounting processes for the region conducted by both our internal team and our third-party service provider. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance within established Company policies, regulations and accounting practices, and providing support to internal and external stakeholders.
This role is expected to collaborate with our third-party service provider on daily operations and to identify and implement process improvements in the general accounting and general ledger system by researching and assessing workflow procedures and policies. With different levels of participation, the General Accounting Manager will assist in various projects through their completion.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger & Accounting Governance
- Ensure the integrity of the general ledger across multiple ERP environments by establishing and driving standardized accounting processes
- Provide oversight and approval of journal entries, including accruals, reclasses, payroll, stock compensation, and T&E-related postings
- Ensure all accounting entries comply with applicable accounting standards, internal policies, and key controls
Reconciliation & Balance Sheet Control
- Oversee balance sheet and subledger reconciliation processes, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of discrepancies
- Drive root cause analysis of aged items, abnormal balances, and recurring issues, ensuring appropriate escalation and resolution plans
- Ensure prepayments, accruals, and amortization schedules are accurately recorded and monitored
Accruals, Prepayments & Expense Management
- Ensure robust governance over accrual processes, including validation of open invoices, collaboration with PO owners, and completeness of recorded liabilities
- Oversee the tracking and timely recognition of recurring accruals and related adjustments
- Ensure appropriate accounting treatment of prepayments and systematic amortization
Third-Party (BPO) Service Provider Management
- Provide operational oversight and governance of third-party service providers to ensure high-quality, timely, and compliant service delivery
- Establish clear performance expectations and monitor delivery against SLAs, KPIs, and control requirements
- Partner with providers to resolve escalations, drive continuous improvement, and ensure alignment with company policies and procedures
Audit, Compliance & Internal Controls
- Accountable for compliance to SOX and internal control frameworks for general accounting for the region, ensuring effective design and execution of controls for general accounting for the region
- Act as the primary point of contact for US GAAP internal and external audits for General Accounting team, ensuring timely and effective resolution of audit findings
- Reinforce a strong control environment across all accounting processes and service delivery models
Cross-Functional & Regional Leadership
- Act as a key liaison for General Accounting for the region with RSO and across Corporate, Business Units and other key stakeholders
- Provide accounting guidance and leadership across multiple legal entities for the region and coordinate with General Accounting Senior Manager to ensure standardized approach across the regions. For complex accounting treatment, ensure to align and partner with RSO, Global Technical accounting and Corporate Controllers.
Process Standardization & Continuous Improvement
- Drive the standardization of accounting processes across multiple ERP environments and regions in coordination with GPO
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation opportunities, and best practices to enhance efficiency and quality
- Ensure all processes are well-documented through robust desktop procedures and maintained for consistency and audit readiness
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Provide leadership, oversight, and direction to the General accounting team of the region including BPO partners, ensuring high performance and accountability
- Review team outputs (journal entries, reconciliations, accruals) to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance
- Drive ownership of KPIs and service delivery metrics, ensuring continuous performance improvement
Project & Stakeholder Management
- Lead accounting-related projects and initiatives, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic objectives
- Build strong stakeholder relationships and foster collaboration across functions and geographies
Additional responsibilities: - Integrate Accounting processes from acquired companies into existing processes
- Ensure that all processes and policies are compliant with Internal Audit and Sarbanes-Oxley control requirements
- Prepare Quarterly balance sheet reconciliation and reasonableness flux analysis, review and remediation, as needed
- Identify and implement processes improvements and automation opportunities
- Communicate directly with multiple functions and businesses and senior management within the organization
- Review of non-standard ad-hoc journal entries as needed in line with policies
- General Accounting Team oversight, mentoring and coaching
- Timely update and escalation of key tasks to Global Operations leadership
- Other tasks that may be assigned in line with Global Operations leadership
Education and Experience: - Minimum BA/BS Degree in Accounting
- Minimum 8-10 years experience in Accounting
- Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience, experience managing other countries/regions a plus
- Strong technical accounting standards knowledge – US GAAP and/or IFRS
- Experience in working in a regional or global shared service environment
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with SAP background, Blackline reconciliation background a plus

- Ability to identify areas of issue and provide resolution

- Able to work in shifts and manage teams working in shifts as part of Global Operations team
